Aftermath

Once the battle was over the dead were accounted for or what's left of them I finally get to see my father but as a corpse. I could only stare as my mom leaned over his half eaten body screaming and crying. My sister is crying into mothers back unable to look at our father's corpse. I think to myself "If only I was stronger this never would have happened these demons will pay a price they could never have imagined!" I know in my heart I should be crying but i once never saw him the only thing I could say I knew about him was he was a diligent soldier and his name John will never be forgotten.

I hear my mother in the other room talking to Akane "I have to help rebuild the town so look after your brother for me please?" Akane replies "I understand mother I will look after Argos while your out. be safe mother and let me know if you need me to help." I hear the door open once it shuts not long after I hear Akane crying. I start to feel sad wanting to help my sister so I climbed out of my crib but was stopped at the door I was to short to reach the knob to open the door.

I sigh irritated at how small I was I think to myself "Sorry Akane I can't reach the door knob." I decide to read the books on the bookshelf in my room to try to pass the time and learn more about the world or atleast what it used to be. I read for about an hour it appears the human race used to be the dominant species in this continent with four kingdoms called kingdom of Glade, kingdom of Crast, Brusch empire, and the kingdom of Bastion.

From the rough sketches on some of the pages it appears to be mostly Grasslands and mountains. Akane opens my door with some mushy food for me to eat and says "We gotta share little bro sense the monsters attacked we are short on food for a while." She sits down next to me and helps me eat while taking a few bites. I feel bad for eating most the food so once there is a half a bowl left I push the bowl to Akane and say "I'm full you can have rest of it."

She looks at me with a smiles and says "Thank you little bro I will eat a little more and put it away for later." I already knew she probable won't eat it and give it to me later after all I also suffered a famine in my previous life." I watch as my sister eats a bit more of the food and sets it aside then looks at me. "Hey little bro what have you been doing in here by yourself all day?" I grab the book off the floor and hand it to her saying "I been reading." she looks at the book and says "How are you reading this little bro? Isn't this book really hard it's geography."

I sit down in Akane's lap and say "I start to learn can read to me and teach?" she smiles and says "Yes we can but let me put the food away first so we have food for later." I crawl out of her lap as she gets up and goes to the other room. I sit in the middle of the room flipping through more of the pages waiting for Akane to come back. She comes back and puts me in her lap then starts reading out loud to me while showing me how to properly read the language. Four months later we managed to just barely escape famine because the soldiers went with the hunters to look for food. They managed to kill four massive boars the size of a small house along with a Goliath Bear that stands sixteen feet tall I heard my mother Lisa was the one who took them all down without a scratch.

I am most impressed with mother when I heard this and wonder when I will be able to spar my mother. I begin to ask Lisa "Mom when can I train with you?" She smiles when she picks me up and says "Once you reach five years old I will help train you on my days off duty." I smile and hug Lisa in anticipation for the day I turn five so I can finally train and avoid losing anymore of my family.
