"And again Rose, come on get it right this time"
I heard my coach shout. staring at the vaulting table ahead of me i took a deep breath and started my run up, gathering speed I did a cartwheel and backhand spring onto the table before launching myself high in the air and performing the Double twisting Yurchenko I had gotten so good at.
I knew it was bad from the second I had taken off, I didn't have enough power to get the height I needed, I landed on my back with a thud, as my coach walked over I prepared myself for the telling off I was about to get...
"that was awful, you're meant to be the best vaulter in the world Rose, favourite to win gold in London, with a performance like that you'll be lucky to make the final! You need to step up your game Rose! You think the Chinese and the Russians are just Going to sit there and let you take the gold because you're world champion? No, so go back up there and get this vault right!!"
Sighing, I Got up and went to chalk my hands, I knew I had to nail this vault, but the words 'Olympic gold' were ringing in my ears. Would the pressure be too much? Would I come back from London as a let down? Or will I be standing up on that podium with The Star-Spangled Banner playing across the stadium and a gold medal round my neck?
I need that Medal I thought to myself, I've been working my whole life for it, I can't fail!
