CAUTION - * Lyra Malfoy deals with themes of abuse*

It was October when Quidditch practice began. Fred and George in Lyra's words,  "wouldn't shut up about it." Not that she truly minded, she attended their practices cheering for Harry and the Weasley boys along with Hermione, Ron and Ginny, who was sad she wouldn't get to play this season.

The team (and company) walked down the hallways as Oliver Wood drawled on about how they needed to work harder this year blah blah blah, Lyra zoned out as they went. As soon as they reached the pitch they were met with the Slytherin team heading in the same direction.

"I booked the pitch for Gryffindor today," Wood quipped at them in a somewhat impatient tone looking as if he would punch Flint out if he said the wrong thing.

"Relax we have a note," he said gruffly handing Wood the slip of paper.

Noticing the impending trouble Hermione, Ron and Lyra got up from the bench they had sat on and entered the group.

"I Severus Snape here by grant the Slytherin Quidditch team permission to use the field to train their new seeker," he read aloud.

"New seeker? Who?"

They stepped aside to reveal Draco, Lyra's face fell.

"Of course it would be him, he just has to beat Harry at everything," she thought to herself.

She looked up to see Draco showing off the teams new broomsticks their father had paid for.

"At least nobody on the Gryffindor team had to buy their way in, they got in on pure talent." Hermione said to Draco, earning a high five from Lyra and a couple chuckles from the twins.

Lyra noticed the mild hurt that flashed through her brothers eyes but he, being trained by the best dark wizards covered it within an instant.

The next seven words however, that left his mouth shouldn't have effected her the way they did, she knew it would happen eventually. She thought she had been prepared, but she guessed truly nobody was ever ready for their family member who, they had devoted their life to protect from straying from who they are. To become someone unfeeling, cruel and frankly miserable.

"Nobody asked you, you filthy little mudblood."

Time stopped and Lyra's blood had run cold, she inhaled sharply and for a moment there was silence. Her body went rigid and she didn't even react when Ron cast his spell sending himself flying backwards.

George snapped his fingers in front of Lyra's face hoping to reconnect her with the rest of the world, finally she came back to earth just as the golden trio made their way to Hagrid's Hut and the team of red and gold accepting defeat, began to walk of the pitch. However  Lyra remained with her feet firmly planted to the ground, stoic.

Grey eyes met grey eyes, as the two siblings stared at one another. Noticing the tension everyone stopped what they were doing just to see what would happen between the Malfoy's.

Almost in a whisper all that came out of Lyra's mouth was, "You promised me."

A sliver of regret etched it's way onto Draco Malfoy's face. Quickly he masked it with a sneer and an eye roll.

"I don't keep promises to blood traitors."

George started forward towards him, but was stopped by Lyra, "It's okay George."

He nodded and moved back to stand beside Fred.

"Goodbye Draco, " Lyra said turning back to the Gryffindors.

"You're a Disgrace."

Mid step Lyra froze, usually it took a lot to get under her skin, but that one word effected her so much to the point that for a split second, she forgot to breathe.

Lyra clutched her hand to her chest as memories brought her back to a time she never wanted to revisit.

She turned and in a split second she lunged at Draco, hands curled into fists ready to punch him in his smug face.

It took the strength of Angelina, Fred and George to keep Lyra from hurting him.

"How could you? After all we have been through! Your a spitting image of him!" She shouted, eyes angry and jaw clenched.

The onlookers had no idea what was going on between the Malfoy's.

"I never asked for you help! I don't need you to save me!" Draco hollered as the Slytherins tried to block his way from getting to Lyra.

Finally after a few minutes of shouting from both teams holding Draco and Lyra back from injuring one another, things calmed down. Lyra stopped struggling shook everyone off of her and turned storming off the pitch.

"Where are you going Lyra?" George asked as she blew past him.

"To check on Hermione!"

The twins exchanged looks of uncertainty but followed her lead towards the groundskeepers hut.

The rest of the Gryffinfors left the pitch heading back to the castle giving the Slytherin team harsh looks as they went.

"Hermione I'm so sorry for his behaviour, that was awful and uncalled for," Lyra said in a somber tone to the girl sitting at Hagrids kitchen table.

"It's not your fault,"she smiled, "It's Draco's."

"I know but he is my little brother, and I feel responsible for his actions."

"Hey," George said putting his hand on Lyra's shoulder, he choose his own path, you are not responsible for him choosing the wrong one."

Lyra turned to him and gave him a grin, "Thanks George, honestly he was never like this when we were young. I tried, really I did, to make sure he turned out okay. But, I suppose he was bound to do this after I left town."

"Why did you leave Hogwarts to go to France anyway?" Ron asked.

Anxiety hit her like an oncoming train as images of Draco begging Lucius to show mercy on her, pain and Bellatrix Lestrange standing over Lyra, flashed in her mind.

She looked down at her feet frowning trying to figure out a way to answer, maybe she should tell them.

However a voice inside her head told her that she would be looked at differently and she didn't want their pity.

George recognizing her discomfort, said "Maybe we should all head back to the dorms, it's getting late."

They all agreed after the events of the day wishing Hagrid a goodnight and leaving to go to their respective dorms.
