"Kari stop."

"But I want some!"

"It's too early for candy."

"But I wantttttt!" She yelled before throwing herself on the floor.

I rolled my eyes and looked at her as she began bawling.

"Naija, come get yo daughter!"

Kari stood up quickly and wiped her eyes.

"Got yo ass, that's why yo mama not even here."

She pouted and began crying again.

"Kari gone!"

"Tah I want it!"

"Tah said no."

She began stomping and full blown screaming.

"Oh my gosh." I mumbled.

Wes, Naija's baby daddy walked in the kitchen mugging me.

I mugged his ass right back.

"Why you in here bothering my daughter?"

"Why is your daughter in here bothering me? The hell."

"Nah, you been making her cry for the past five minutes. Couldn't even watch my damn show."

"Well maybe you should've got her five minutes ago."

"Daddy I want candy." Kari said reaching for him.

"Y'all youngins annoying as fuck." He said picking her up.

Going to the pantry he got her fruit roll ups and started unwrapping it.

"It's 11am and you giving this girl candy." I said making a face.

"My daughter, my rules."

"Well, I snitch so."

"Ion give a damn. My house, my rules too. Shit."

He gave Kari the candy and put her down, making her stick her tongue out at me as she ran to the living room.

"Kari, I'm still telling yo mama! And backtrack, you said your house?" I said eyeing him.

"Yeah."

"You barely been here a month but okay."

"Yo mouth slick as fuck for someone who don't pay no bills and if you gon keep that up, me and yo auntie needa see some change."

"Don't put my auntie name in no mess, best believe she ain't never said no shit like that." I said getting up to put my cereal bowl in the sink.
