THIRD PERSON
It was late in the afternoon, just right after Hope had stopped over the headmaster's office for a simple talk just like she normally does, she overhears a conversation which is probably isn't allowed to be known by anyone apart from him and her daughters' mother.
The conversation has ended, with her hearing abilities she hears the movements that the man is making from inside and waits outside for a few more minutes before stepping in.
"It won't hurt if you'd knock." Dr. Saltzman says and Hope chuckles.
"You'd save your time if you'd stop reminding me that every time I came here. Knocking is not my forte." she says taking a seat from the leather couch while the older man followed with his mug in hand.
"What brings you here this late? You should be resting."
"My foot...?" Hope grins while Alaric rolls his eyes playfully. "Whatever, nothing. Really. Just that taking my everyday walk because I don't know. I don't really have nowhere to go nor anyone to hang out with."
"That's why I have been telling you-" Alaric starts and Hope stands.
"Nope, no. Save it, I won't be listening to that again, goodbye Dr. Saltzman!" she says in a hurry before disappearing behind the doors.Alaric shook his head, "to go and get along other people..." he whispered knowing that it is probably too late. He sighed and chuckled to himself, Hope had always been like this. He just wishes that she'd blend in more with the people around her.
On the other hand, Hope who is just about to go back to her room stumbled across MG who's clearly in a hurry. He looks around and smiled at Hope.
"Hi there Hope! And goodbye!" he sounded so much more excited than his usual self making Hope shake her head with a playful smirk.
"You know it looks fun whenever you're hiding something MG. It shows." Hope says making the boy stop and shut his eyes, internally cursing.
"Alright. But don't tell Mr. Saltzman!" he reminds and Hopr shrugs. "There's a party deep within the woods. You should come, just don't bring your squad with you." he sounded more like pleading.
"Squad? I don't even have friends." Friends, Hope chuckled. Plural, she doesn't even have one.
"You do have a squad." MG insisted.
"Who? Mr. Saltzman?" She laughs humorously.
"Now we're talking!" MG says genuinely and Hope nods.
"Parties are not really my thing and if you haven't noticed yet, I have never really been to one apart from when the headmaster needed me to bust you all out and crash your party. So I think I'll pass. And no weeds, MG." Hope reminded him before walking away.
"They'd like it if you'd come!" MG shouts a little too loud because he though the girl has already gone far, clearly Hope is able to head but did not really pay attention..It was already evening and Hope was reading through her book when she sighed, looking around her room and putting down the book. Her gaze landed on the photo frame that is resting on her bedside table.
'God, I miss them.' she says internally and closes her eyes.
Her thoughts, once again, started going into the sea of 'what Ifs'.
What if her father, Niklaus Mikaelson didn't die? Or her mother, Hayley Marshall didn't sacrifice herself? Or even her Uncle Elijah? What if they never had to face The Hollow? What if no one had to die? Would anything be any different? Would she be less sad?
The feeling of loss is still vivid in her, she feels the void left by her family every single day but she does nothing to ease the pain. Because she's alone. And the memories, their happy memories is what keeps her going. She's afraid that if she moves on and then one day had to get hurt then she'll never fucking make it.
She water rimming around her eyes and she had to blink that away. Trying so hard not to be any weaker than she already is, that is for her because in others' point of view. Give it Alaric or her distant relative Freya, she's a very strong person.
