1. Rain (inspiration from "He's a merman" written by @Crys_Tells and The little Mermaid)
2. Sun (inspiration from a detective book i've read at some point in the past)
3. Wind (inspiration from The Wizard of Oz)
1. You've been dating your dream boyfriend for months now, but one night, in the middle of a meal he told you something. He was really a merman who had given up his tail and ability to breath underwater in exchange for a pair of legs and the opportunity to find true love. He claimed to always feel incomplete and alone in his life under the sea although he was surrounded by friends and family. But there is a catch, he had to receive a real confession of love from a person that he fell in love with, his time was limited. And as he had been on land for almost a year his time is nearly up, without that confession, within a weeks time he will die an excruciatingly painful death. He will drown in the air as his gills reappear and the ocean wouldn't take kindly to being rejected. He told you all of this because he thought you were the one for him, but what he didn't realise was that you had fell out of love with him and were going to break up with him over the meal. When you brought that to light he simply gave a small, sad smile that didn't reach his eyes and thanked you for the period of happiness you supplied him with. In a weeks time you dropped a single rose onto the surface of the water and watched as the tide took it away then the flower was sucked into its murky depths.
2. You're a sun goddess and are tired of your minimal amount of freedom given to you by your controlling parents. You flee to the mortal realm to let loose and have a bit of fun, but instead you meet a wandering soul. The soul of a young man who was taken before his time, he's looking for the person or thing that can send him to his afterlife as he was murdered but didn't know. You don't have much time as your parents notice your absence and send dangerous otherworldly creatures to capture you and bring you back home. You're determined to help this man as you were roped in by his warmheartedness and innocence, something you had never had. After falling deeply in love with him, you rationalise the situation and realise that if you end up succeeding in finding his killer you'll lose him forever. You decide not to be selfish, on the fateful day you find his killer and bring him to justice he confesses to the fact that he really did reciprocate your feelings all along. But it's too late. He's gone. You return to heaven of your own accord but are so depressed and heavy with the loss of your lover that the sun doesn't rise for a whole month. The humans on Earth are panicked about their failing crops but you couldn't care less. You sit on your throne, tired, hollow. Then a blinding light appears and he's standing there, with white feathered wings. Smiling.
3. A tornado hit your city and you were swept up with it. When you awoke, you were in a strange land inhabited with strange people, everything is so different and you're mistaken as royalty. You're crowned queen of the land and finally become used to the new world you discovered. You even mothered a child. One day, the skies grey and the ground shakes uncontrollably. You grab hold of your child and stroke their hair whispering to them that it'll all be okay. An enormous chunk of plaster dislodges itself from the ceiling and you notice just as its above you, you throw your child to the side and everything goes dark. You wake up in a hospital bed in the real world, the one in which you were born. The doctors treat you like you're insane and you really do start to believe that as you babble about your kid and life in the other realm. They inject you, sedate you, perform tests on you and put you through multiple machines and surgery. Because you were killed in that tornado, when it passed your broken and battered body was found on the side of a river. Just as they were prepared to cremate your body, they felt a pulse and your heart beat once more. You stayed deep in a coma for two years, your eyelids occasionally fluttering but other than that there was no sign of you waking up again. When the fateful day came, the day that the decision to take you off of life support arrived, you still lived. This was groundbreaking and greatly confused everyone around. No one could explain your situation. But now, you're a shell of who you once were, skin and bones. Scars littered your body from where foolish surgeons dissected and attempted to dismember you, but to no avail. Nothing was revealed. Just as the pain and weariness gets too great, just as you're about to close your eyes for good, the pump of your heart slowing, you feel a gust of wind tickle your cheek and blow a few strands of your hair out of place. That day you died, with a look of contentment on your face and your body was found hours later. But you still live, in every breathe of wind, reunited with your child and your loyal subjects in the clouds.
