Yo. Hi.
So this was an LA project that I really liked and even though it's not strictly Bangtan related (at all) I thought maybe someone would read it? IDK. I wrote it with a classmate, so it's not all my writing style.
The screen turns from black to a video of a girl with hair so dark brown that it's almost black. You'd think she had dyed it that color. She looked into the camera shyly, revealing hazel eyes that were shining in the light of the March day.
"I don't know if anyone will ever see these... I might be too embarrassed," she starts with a tiny sigh, almost unnoticeable. "But this is the first entry in my video diary of my time here at USC. I'm on the porch of my sorority, Delta Delta Delta. Fun name, huh? They answer the phone with 'Can I help ya help ya help ya?' I figured that since I'm majoring in film I should make a video diary instead of just keeping a traditional one."
"Come on Cora, let's go party!" a voice interrupts the girl on screen.
"That was just my senior roommate Rachel, she always wants to party." The girl on screen sighs again, a melancholy sound that fills the watcher with a sense of non-belonging.
The camera pans to show a girl with dirty blonde hair pulled up into a high ponytail and blue eyes. She seems ready to go, maybe to a club or something, with the way she's dressed. She has on a very short dress, heels, and carries a tiny purse that probably doesn't have enough money in it to pay for the amount of drinking she looks ready to do.
"Hey camera!" shouts the blonde girl. "I'm Rachel, the oldest person here and probably the most irresponsible! Now shut off that camera and come with me Cora. I don't wanna be lonely!"
"No way, Rachel. I hate clubs." The girl on screen, Cora, seems tired of Blondie already.
"God Cora why are you such a fun sponge?" Rachel heaves a huge and fake sigh. "Anyway I'm going, so you can join me if you want, I'll just suffer without you if you don't come."
Cora moves away, turning the camera back toward her."I'm going to go inside and introduce the others to the camera."
And then the camera is moving, and Cora is showing the hallways off as she walks inside..
"My room is upstairs, so I won't be getting to that for a while. Basically, this is the kitchen.... dining room.... common room, and here's Michelle!"
"Hi everyone," says the girl called Michelle shyly. She has vivid coppery-red hair that brings to mind Marcia Cross, and brown eyes. She's noticeably shorter than Cora. "I'm Michelle, I'm majoring in pharmacology, and I'm a sophomore."
"By the way, guys, the reason nobody is here is because Spring Break just started," Cora interjects. "Normally, we'd have a lot more people here."
"Cora's right, we have waaaaaay more people in our sorority," Michelle adds. Then the camera's view moves away from Michelle and back onto Cora.
"Thanks for talking to us Michelle! Now let's go up the stairs, and I'll show you the quiet room."
She takes the camera up the stairs and into a room where everything is silent, suffocatingly so.
Cora speaks in a whisper. "So this is the quiet room, as you can see. There's nobody in here at the moment, but usually you can hear up to fifty girls breathing in here. It's horrible, I just study in the library or in my room. I'm originally from Iowa, and my parents are on a trip to Costa Rica, that's why I'm still here. Context for you."
She's moved from the quiet room now.
"This is the bedroom hallway," she says, gesturing with one hand. "Seniors over here, juniors, sophomores, and freshman." She points to each section as she says it. "Here's my room. I have one all to myself because you kinda have to be rich to get into this sorority, and the selection process is really strenuous, so we're smaller than average and well funded."
