Bora's Introduction

3rd POV

Bora woke up on the couch in her family's little house on Jeju island. She was awakened by the sudden commotion coming from the kitchen. With tired eyes, she walked out into the kitchen to find her three younger brothers tackling each other and her mom yelling at them to stop. "YAH!" she yelled "Chill out kiddos". Her younger brothers stopped and looked at her with indifferent and kept ongoing. She rolled her eyes and started to walk out of the kitchen, but her mother stopped her. "Darling, can you take your brothers to your aunt's today?" her mother said with a tired expression. "Yeah sure, when will you come home tonight?" Bora asked. "Oh sorry honey, I'll be working late tonight as well" her mother said. Bora looked at her mom with a guilty expression, as she wished, she could help more with their economical state.

Bora gathers her brothers and took them straight home to their aunt. Her aunt greeted them with a big smile plastered on her face, as she hugged all of them. "I'm so happy to see all of you again" her aunt said in a happy voice. "We came here yesterday" Bora said. "But that doesn't mean I can't miss you" the aunt said and pulled Bora in for another hug. "Come in and have a cup of tea, while your brothers play" the aunt said. Bora let out a sigh and walked in. "So tell me, how is it going at home?" the aunt asked while preparing the tea. "The same deal. Mom leaves early and comes back super late" Bora answered "She is beginning to look more tired and skinny. She doesn't eat all that much anymore. Even though I try to help by making some food for her, she just says "Sorry honey, I am really busy and have to go". It's tiring". "Don't worry too much your mother is a biscuit" her aunt said with a reassuring smile. She put down the cup of tea in front of Bora and walked out of the kitchen into the living room with the three younger brothers. Bora sat alone in the kitchen for a while. 'I really need to clear my head' she thought as she stood up ready to go out for a walk.

It was still warm outside, even though it was the end of summer. The birds were chirping and the trees were all in full bloom still, not a single leaf had fallen from the trees' crowns yet. Bora was walking down the shore, looking out where the sky meets the sea. 'I never want to leave this place' she thought as she looked around feeling peaceful for the first time in a while. Bora dabbled her feet in the water. She felt the cold saltwater hit her ankles. 'I should probably start heading home now' she thought as she picked up her shoes and headed towards her aunt's house.

After she picked up her brothers at her aunt's, she went straight home to what she thought was an empty house. When she opened the door, she was met by her mother smiling like crazy at her. Her mother was surrounded by gifts and expensive things. She herself was wearing expensive brands. "Holy..." Bora said with her eyes and mouth wide open. Her brother quickly ran inside to see all the new gifts and things. "Aren't you coming in honey? I got some things for you" her mother said excitedly. Bora slowly walked in with her mouth still wide opened. "Here" her mother said as she handed Bora a gift. The gift was small but quite heavy. "What's this?" Bora asked with confusion written all over her face. "Well it is a gift, dummy" her mother giggled "Open it". Bora opened the gift and was shocked to see an iPhone 11. "Omg mom, where the hell did you get all this money from?!" Bora quickly exclaimed as she slowly put away the phone. "Well you know I've really been working hard lately and it really paid off" her mother said as she looked around happy to see the younger brothers enjoying their gifts. "I have one more gift for you" she said "Come with me". Bora's mother took her into the kitchen. "Here" she said as she gave Bora an envelope "Open it". Bora looked at her mother suspiciously before opening the envelope. Her eyes grew even wider. "How is that even possible" Bora said with disbelieving clouding her mind. Bora was standing with an acceptance letter in her hand to one of the ost prestige performing high schools.
