My eyes were closed, I could hear the sounds around me. I could hear the steady beeping of a machine most likely keeping me alive. I can hear the sound of my father crying, and Cisco and Caitlyn try and save me. But what was most annoying, was what happened and why can't I open my eyes.
"Baby? Can you hear me?" I know it was the voice of my father. "Dad I can hear you, please hear me!" I wanted to shout, but I couldn't, that was a nasty fall I had. Suddenly, I snapped my eyes open and what I saw first was the blinding light. I groaned and immediately closed my eyes.
I slowly opened them and saw my dad with tears in his eyes, relief written all over his face. He helped me sit up and he pulled me close to him, making sure to never let me go. "Don't do that to me, ever again. Please. I lost your mother, I can't lose you either." My father said, voice cracking indicating he was crying.
Want to know how I got in that position? That guy? Yeah, that's my dad, Barry Allen. What happened to me? Well, that's something you need to read and find out. Let me tell the beginning of my story.
Hi, I'm Emily Nora Cooper, and this is my life. I was diagnosed with depression at the young age of 7 and I suffer from PTSD. It stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Why I suffer? At the age of 5, I witnessed my mother getting killed by a flash of purple lightning. I would've been killed too, but I got out of the house somehow. Ever since then, I was always, traumatized.
I lived with my grandma, who would abuse me and tell me it was my fault that my mother died, and how it should've been me. Well, when my grandmother was out buying groceries, I went to the attic and found something, a letter my mother wrote. It read:
"Whoever is reading this,
This is Anna Cooper, and I'm writing this just in case that if I die, my daughter has somewhere to go. I don't want my daughter to be in the hands of my mother. Erika used to abuse me and hit me telling me it was my fault that my father died. Emily deserves so much more than that. I want her to go into the hands of her father, Barry Allen. I know he would love her how I loved her, and I know he will protect her as much as he can. Please respect my wishes and give Emily to Barry.
Love, Anna Cooper"My grandma was like this even when my mom was my age! I made my decision, I'm packing my stuff, and I'm leaving. I'm tired of being abused. I packed everything I needed in a suitcase, and left. No note, no nothing. Before I did, I grabbed the note my mother wrote for proof that my mom wanted me to go to my father.
I was walking on the streets, hoping in finding a place to stay, but I know I will most likely stay on the streets. I walked around for a little bit, not paying attention to where I was going, and bumped into a man, who looked like he was in a hurry. He called over his shoulder telling me he was sorry, but he slowed his pace down a little bit.
He came back over to me and gave me a questioning look. "Why do you have that suitcase?" He asked me. I looked down, not really in the mood for talking. He squatted down to my level, and made me look at him. I saw the concern in his eyes, and he doesn't even know me! "Are you running away from home?" He asked gently. I slowly nodded, not comfortable with talking.
He made me walk over to a corner where nobody really went to, and I got a better look at him. He looked very young, late 20s, and very attractive. "What's going on? I know I just met you, but I feel a connection between us, but just know you can trust me with anything." He said. I smiled a bit. "I'm Emily. And I'm running away because when I was younger, like 5, my mom was killed, and I was diagnosed with ptsd, and two years later, I was diagnosed with depression, since my grandma found me trying to kill myself." I said choking a bit at the end.
The guy had a sympathetic look on his face. But I continued. "My grandma has been abusing me ever since she found out about my moms death. And she was blaming me for it." I said, but he cut me off. "I'm sorry for interrupting, but what was your moms name?" He asked. "Anna. Anna Cooper." I said. His face paled. He looked at me and started tearing up. He looked really familiar, he looked like the guy in my moms pictures. "What's your name?" I asked. He cleared his throat. "Barry Allen." He said.
I gasped. I did not realize that the guy in front of me, was the guy I was looking for all along. I reached into my pocket and was about to grab the letter, but he stopped me. "I'm very sorry Emily, but I'm really late for an investigation, can I bring you with me and we can settle this afterwards?" He asked. I nodded. I left my suitcase there and went with him, because I had a feeling I wouldn't need that suitcase.
