"Why haven't they come to get him?" Remus was pacing the living room by the time Logan left the spare bedroom. Despite Drake's words to not get comfortable in the room, he had been offered it again last night and Logan could make a logical assumption that he would be offered it again tonight.
"I have already informed you, Remus, there is no logical reason for them to rescue me. The King and I had a falling out, Patton is loyal to the king just as the king is to him, and it is difficult for Virgil to go against his wishes, attempting to go against King Roman is very anxiety-inducing." Especially after they had all been present to see what happened to Logan.
"That's Bullshit. Not only are you smarter than anyone else he has in that play court of his, but you are handsome, and you have this thing where you just know what to say. Like, that recall, man, it's impressive. You know so much about so many different subjects and you have a thirst to learn. I mean, seriously, who reads philosophy books just for the hell of it." Sure Drake did, but Drake was also a nerd. Remus would never understand why either of them would spend excess time learning about something that wasn't immediately beneficial to them.
"While I do appreciate the compliments, it is not necessary." Logan had realized that Drake and Remus were both big on self-confidence and being reassured that who you were was perfectly fine. Logan appreciated that, but their words didn't always sink in. "I have known since I was a child that I am not someone that other people value."
Remus stopped pacing, watching as Logan grabbed another book from the shelf. Even with his back turned to Remus, Logan could feel his eyes running over every inch of his body. He didn't understand why those words would have come as a surprise to Remus? Logan was a source of knowledge and information, that was it. Even when he had been living with the king, that had been the extent of his usefulness.
Logan sat back down at the table in the living room, he watched as Remus walked towards the bedrooms where he was sure Drake was working. Logan hadn't meant to make Remus upset, he actually wanted to hear the ramble of Remus' voice as he read. He wasn't even sure what had set Remus off, Logan was just stating facts.
Rather than opening the book, Logan sat his head on the table, fighting against the swell of emotions that was threatening to overcome him. He really hadn't expected the others to come to his rescue. He hadn't expected any of them to come to find him. He knew, logically, there was no reason for them to help him, but maybe because of Remus' excitement, he had hoped. It was always foolish to hope.
