Going through the checkpoints gave us anxiety every time. Even though we were cautious and had nothing on us that gave us a red flag, being that close to a soldier was a little scary. "Whew that was nerve-racking. " Sally said as she let out a big sigh.

"Yeah... anyways we have to hurry because we are on a time crunch." We quickly ran towards our mini hideout in the woods. As I untangled my M110 from the leaves, I noticed a strange feeling in the air. I turned to look around me, but I couldn't find anything out of the ordinary.

"Nathan, you okay?" Asked Sally. she was fully dressed and ready to go.

I slapped my head hard. "Yeah, just give me a moment." Sally looked at me strangely but didn't say anything.

Winter and her convoys were supposed to make a trip to Alcatraz, a high tech total security base, for a round visit. I set up on a ledge, aiming at the route they were going to take, while Sally guarded my six. It was too dangerous for her to do our usual.

"Hey Nathan...?" Sally asked worriedly.

"What?" I replied while looking at the road.

"What happens if this job goes wrong?"

I pulled my finger away from the trigger. She never asked anything like this before. "Hey, if anything goes wrong, I will be here to protect you, even if I have to die."

Sally was quiet. She looked as if she was going to say something but we soon heard the sound of a squad of jeeps rolling into the field. There was about 15 of them in a line. I quickly zoomed in to see Winter riding in the middle of the line. "This seems way too easy." I mumbled to myself. "Sally." She turned around confused. "Go into the forest and hide. When I shoot, I need you to run as far away as possible from here."

"No, I'm not leaving you! If you die, then we die together!"

"Go now!"

"No!"

"Tch." I took a deep breath and stared down the scope. "3...2...1..." I pull the trigger and a loud gun shot sound rang through my air. I peered down my scope again to see all of the trucks stopping. Winter was nowhere to be seen. I held my breath hoping the job was done. I could hear the mass panic coming from down below. I stood up and prepared to leave.

"Nathan, did you get her?" Asked Sally

"I think I di—" A sharp pain slammed into my stomach.

"Nathan!" Screamed Sally.

I fell on to the hard dirt with a thump. Sally rushed to my side and swung one arm around me. "Damn it Sally, you should have ran when I told you to!"

"I said no, okay?! Let's go, we are both going to get out of here!"

As we ran, I could hear someone trailing us. "Someone is following us." I whispered. We quickly stopped and hid behind a tree. The footsteps stopped. I was starting to feel a bit light headed. I look down to see my shirt soaked in blood. "Sis, I don't think I am going to make it."

Sally stared in horror. "You are going to be fine, stay with me, you are going to be fine!" She took off her shirt and ripped it in half. She tied the two halves together as a substitute bandage. She tightened it around my wound to try to stop the bleeding. "Hey! Stay with me Nathan!" My vision was getting cloudier by the second.

I grabbed her hand and winced at the sudden pain. "Leave me, I will only slow you down more!"

"NO, I WILL STAY HERE DEFENDING YOU NO MATTER WHAT!"

I didn't have the energy to argue back. We were both going to die if we didn't do anything. Suddenly, a twig snapped right next to us. Sally quickly pulled out her gun and aimed it right at the bush. Slowly, a person came out from the bush with their hands up.

"God dammit, stupid nature is always giving me away." He said nonchalantly.

"Who are you?" Demanded Sally.

"Your worst nightmare honey." He smirked. My hand slowly inched for my pistol, but it wasn't there anymore. "Looking for this?" The guy pulled out my pistol and started spinning it around.

"How did you...?"

"You know, you messed with the wrong people when you targeted Commander Winter. She may be one thing, but the special ops underneath her is another thing." He winked.

"Speed... that is your thing right?"

"Ding ding ding! We special ops have been through hell and back to get our powers. Winter's power is the ability to summon ice while my power is the power of speed. Just so you know, there is one other special op with me. They will be here soon so sit tight." He smiled.

"Why you!" Screamed Sally in outrage. She attempted to pull the trigger, but the man disappeared and reappeared in front of her in an instant. He quickly disarmed her and slammed her up against a tree.

"You are a pretty girl." he said licking his lips. "You would make a pretty nice snack." He slid his hands from her arms down to her bra. "Let's take a good look at what's in here..."

I grabbed a nearby rock and threw it dead center into his eye. He dropped Sally and cried in pain. Sally went for her pistol and shot the man in the head. His lifeless body fell into the mud. Sally quickly ran over to me to check if I was alright. I took a deep breath and attempted to stand up. I was able to get up half way but I passed out, and Sally caught my dying body. "Nathan... hang in there. You will survive, I promise you."

When I woke up, I found myself laying beside a waterfall. I was still dizzy but I managed to sit up. "Where am I?" I whispered to myself. I noticed a pile of neatly folded clothes next to me. A sudden splash turned my attention to underneath the falls. I went to grab my pistol but I realized it was still missing. I got up but was still in constant pain. The bleeding had stopped at least. "Sally?" I yelled out loud. No answer. I approached the sound as quietly as I could. I pulled out my knife and quickly glanced over to see who was here. To my relief, there was no one there. I cautiously walked back to the area where I first laid. Where could of Sally gone to. The river was roaring pretty loudly, but I could hear a slight rustle from a bush. I threw my knife into the bush causing a loud "eeep!" to come out. "Who ever is there come out! There is no point in hiding."

A girl around the same age as Sally and me, came out from the bush. "Hi...my name is Holly." introduced the girl, "I was walking by, and I noticed that you were hurt." She said meekly. The girl looked perfectly normal. She didn't have a special ops uniform on, and she looked like a farmer.

I let out a big sigh. "Sorry, I'm just really on edge right now." I sat down.

The girl came over to my side and sat next to me. "It's fine, I'm sorry to hear that. What is going on?"

"I'm injured and I can't find my sister anywhere."

"What does she look like?" Asked Holly.

"Uhh, she's short, same age as me, and has brown hair."

"Hmm, I swear I've seen her somewhere." Holly mumbled.

"Really?" I said excited, "Where?"

"Down the river some more." she said with a smile.

"Really? Thanks!" I quickly got up but felt another sharp pain in my stomach.

"Hey, are you okay?!" Holly suddenly got up and helped me sit down.

"Yeah, yeah, I am fine... just in a little pain."

Holly handed me her bottle water. "Here, drink some water. You need to rehydrate yourself."

I quickly grabbed the bottle and chug the whole bottle down. "Thank you so much!" I gave the bottle back and got up again. Now the pain seemed to fade a bit.

"It's no problem." She said with a smile.
As I left, she called out again.

"I hope you find Sally, Nathan. She might need your help!"

I stopped dead in my tracks. I started to feel a little bit hazy.

I never told her my name.... Then I blacked out.
