Tyler's POV
I begin to do the "foot thing" as it gets closer to my turn. I'm really nervous but also really excited about what I'm going to say.I let out the breath I was holding when it finally got to me. "I'm thankful for my family, my friends, my career, my health, and my boyfriend," I say as I watch everyone's expressions go from content to confused as I say the last think I am thankful for.
I hear my mom speak," What, since when did you have a boyfriend, who is it?"For the first time since talking I look at Troye. He has a shy smile on his face as he stares at the table. I turn back to my mom to see a curious look on her face. I smile as I reply, "Well, we've been together for a couple months and he's sitting right next to me."
I hear a few gasps come from around the table, but I'm too focused on the beautiful boy next to me to really care. He has the same shy smile from either and is still looking down at his plate. I pick up his hand and intertwine our fingers. At this, he looks up and I can see his smile grow bigger.
We gaze into each others eyes for a bit before we hear a lot of "Congratulations" and the occasional "I knew it" come from my family.
Surprisingly, I don't hear my mom say anything. I give her a questioning look as I ask, "Mom, are you okay with this?" She gives me a big smile before she answers," Of course, I love you and Troye and I think you two are great together. Congratulations guys." I get up to give her a hug and tell her, "I love you too," before I sit back in my seat.
Troye's POV
To say I'm surprised would probably not be true. I had a feeling Tyler would do something like this, tell everyone when they least expect it and so casually too. It doesn't stop me from being shy though.I'm too nervous to see their reactions, so I just keep my attention on the table. I do, however, look up when I feel Tyler lace his fingers with mine. He looks so happy and I can't do anything but smile bigger and stare into his gorgeous blue-green eyes.
I finally look up at everyone when Tyler breaks our eye contact to look back at his mom. I hear him ask a question that's answer could be very important for our relationship. I don't know what we would do if Jackie didn't approve.
I am so relieved after hearing her positive response. Just then, Tyler gets up to give her a hug. When he sits back down, he reminds me that I still have to say what I'm thankful for.
My answer is pretty easy, "I'm thankful for being able to spend this time with my wonderful boyfriend and his lovely family." Tyler gives me a kiss on the cheek in response to this. A chorus of "awws" come from around the table.
After that, we finish eating with a lot of casual conversation and quite a few questions about "Troyler". I'm so happy that they all support us.
When we are done cleaning up, we head back out into the living room. Once we're sitting, I give Tyler another hug and gaze into his eyes once again. I notice him looking at my lips and lean in to connect our lips in a sweet and loving kiss. It is slow and passionate and doesn't last longer than a minute, but there is enough emotion to last a lifetime. I pull away and rest our foreheads together. I tell him, "I love you so much. You have no idea." He says, "Well if it's anywhere near as much as I love you, then that must be a hell of a lot."
We spend the rest of the night playing board games, watching tv, and talking with his family until we head to bed. "It's safe to say that this is the best first Thanksgiving I could of ever had," I tell Tyler as we both drift off to sleep.
