"Line the overcoat with a straight stitch" Mother corrected my stitching which was previously done by a zigzag stitch "But it all gets the job done, doesn't it" curiously I inquired and she gave me a sweet smile and pulled out her seam ripper from her wooden drawer. "Say (Y-n), how do you get a glass of water" Mother asked as she started to gently pull at my stitches and I hesitated "Well I get a cup then I fill it with water" I look over towards the sink and she lifted an eyebrow to me "You mean to tell me you don't put it in a pot, let it boil, leave it to cool, then put it back in a cup?" She chuckled softly, and I sat up in my chair, my small legs unable to touch the ground quite yet "That's Unnecessary! It's just water!" I say flabbergasted. She chuckled and ran her hand on my head then she nodded "Its like lining an overcoat, you work too hard on things that are unnecessary. Not everything is so cut and dry but it also isn't a hard laborious road" she says in her soft voice, angelic to the ear. She pulled out the last thread and handed the overcoat back to me "Now pin it and put the thimble on, you needn't to prick yourself again" she turned back to her previously worked on dress which was a lovely white spring dress. Her face glowed in the sunlight as she pleated the white dress covered in embroidered peony's, I sat and stared at my sweet angelic mother, taking in the moment.

Oh goodness how the years fly like the fleeting wind, I finished the fastening on the bodice of a dress when I heard the ding of the shop doors, I arose and walked to the front as the wooden floors creaked from the ancient home. Turning the corner I noticed a young man standing at the desk and I gently greeted him "Good morning, how may I help you this evening" the man twisted and his soldier uniform unveiled itself almost doll like in appearance "Ah yes, I'm here for the uniform pants ordered some weeks ago" He spoke in a low command like tone "Oh of course, give me one minute!" I swung to the rack behind me and combed through all my tediously worked on clothes "Here we are" I twisted and caught my breath in my throat when he was half bent leaning toward my face. "You're quite mousy ain't ya, how-about we grab some tea? Get to know each other." He grinned then leaned closer, I pushed a laugh then stepped back a bit "Ah sorry but I really should run the shop" I apologized and pressed the prepaid pants into his hands. "You become even prettier when you're flustered, for just an hour" he persisted, I pressed a chuckle "Sir please, people are starting to take notice, I'd feel dreadfully bad If someone reported this" I nodded to the window of the shop where bodies peeped in. He became flustered and clutched the pants before clearing his throat "Thank you ma'am" and in a soldier like fashion he spun and strode out of the shop, I let out a sigh as I rub the side of my face

"They're getting bolder" mumbles from under my breath echo through the shop. Turning I start to head back into the workshop when I felt a stare seep into me almost holding my soul, I pivoted and my eyes settle on the passerby of Market Chipping.

Right, I'm just a seamstress in a simple city, only guards with nothing better to do catch attention to me.

I prepare to close the shop so I can run errands before it became too late, finally locking the door I set to Cesari's, the best pastry shop in Market Chipping (In my opinion anyway), it's a shame because it's always quite busy since a Hatter sister works there and men flock in every day. I walk to the transit and hop on the steps and hold on to the railing, unable to step inside it due to it being packed to the brim with other individuals. The breeze is nice anyhow. My yellow dress fluttered as the transit picked up speed, the wind blew through my hair and chased it behind me as I watched the passing crowds, the young, the old, the couples and the lonely people.

I've never thought about relationships, I've learned that love is deceiving, a trick played on the heart, disguised as flowers and kisses to lure you in but in reality it's a hideous monster that takes it and slowly suffocates it. I put my hand on my chest, bearing my heart away from the world, the barrier growing stronger through the years since I was a child. The small dings from the transit sound as it slows to a halt, I step off onto the cobble road and start towards Cesari's, of course in usual summer fashion there's a festival going on, families squeezed into the square with excitement I pushed through the crowd of people before I lead through the alleyway. Even if it takes longer, its quieter and a hell of a lot less packed.
