As if Elphaba needed another reason for her father to hate her. The green skin was enough already, but she was also unfortunate enough to be born heterochromatic. She had one dark brown eye, and her other eye was a deep pure blue. Nessarose had told her that only soulmates are born with two different color eyes, and that it was very rare, a gift from the unnamed God. Her father, however, told her otherwise. He told her it was just another freaky mutation, another thing to be despised, another thing that made her a monster. Elphaba didn't know what to think about it, but she knew that when she looked at herself in the mirror, she didn't see a rare jewel, a chance at true love, a gift, she only hated the green skinned multi eye colored freak that looked back.
Galinda could hardly contain her excitement. Ever since she had first laid eyes on herself in the mirror she had been excited, partially because she was so perfect, but also because of her unique gaze. She was always amazed to see her two eyes, neither the same color as the other. One was a bright happy pure blue, it looked like a pool that's depth was unlimited. The other was a rich chocolaty brown, like a piece of her favorite candy. She had heard the stories of soulmates with different colored eyes. Her friends never let her forget it, not like she would forget it. God I hope it's a gorgeous prince!! Galinda would often lay awake at night, thinking about her future lover. Every night she thanked the unnamed God for this gift, and she knew that one day, when she found him, she would finally be complete
"Now Elphaba, I want you to make sure you look after your sister." Her father said. "As much as I hate leaving her in your care."
"Yes father." Elphaba said, which elicited a disgusted cringe when she said it. She looked down at her suitcase, and placed her hand over the outer pocket, which contained her special item which she had snuck into her bag. Nessarose looked over at Elphaba with an apologetic look.
"I will be fine." Nessarose said. "You wrote them ahead and told them about me, three times."
"I know my darling, but Shiz is a big place, and I want to make sure you are safe." He said as he kissed her, Elphaba rolled her eyes.
"Trust me, I will be fine." Nessarose said. "I've got someone watching out for me." Another disgusted look from her father as Nessarose placed her hand in Elphaba's. Their father broke it up almost immediately. Then he moved in close to Elphaba.
"Just don't fuck it up." He whispered. "Like you did everything else."
"Yes Father." Elphaba said as she shrunk away from him.
"Miss Galinda, do you need any assistance?"
"Miss Galinda, allow me to carry that."
"Miss Galinda, Miss Galinda!"
"I love you Miss Galinda!"
"Thank you, thank you all." Galinda said as the porter placed all her luggage on a cart. "I'll tell you what." She said as she jumped up on her luggage. "If you could push this to the campus, I would be in your debt." The gaggle of boys (and even a girl or two) immediately jumped at the opportunity. A few minutes later, they rolled triumphantly into the school. She jumped down and immediately saw her friend Boq.
"Miss Galinda!!" He said, more like shouted.
"Hello Boq." Galinda laughed as she straightened her dress. "How are you?"
"Oh, well since you asked, better now that you are here." He said shyly.
Elphaba pushed Nessarose through the gates. There were people everywhere, from everywhere. Nessa was amazed at how many different people she saw, humans, munchkins, and animals, but all of them reacted the same when they saw Elphaba. This was starting to really get on her nerves.
