You woke up and you remembered almost nothing from the night before. You were in bed wearing only a bra and panties, which didn't seem too unusual until you realized that the walls in your bedroom were a different color and your comforter was heavier and the windows were on the wrong side of the room. Then it hit you...
Oh my gosh this is not my room! You panicked and tried to figure out where you and your clothes actually were.
"Oh no, oh no, oh no," you said to yourself as you searched the floor for you clothes, "where the heck are my pants?"
"Those came off first down da stairs," a familiar brunette guy said while holding a plate of breakfast.
You knew his face, but you had no idea what his name was, you were so embarrassed.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. This is so embarrassing," you said as your cheeks blushed.
"No need to be sorry, you were almost a perfect lady last night," he said and then laughed at his own comment.
You got up off the floor, put on your shirt and asked, "And were you a perfect gentleman..."
"Niall," he said as he held out his hand.
"Paige," you said shaking his outstretched hand.
"I brought these up for ya," he said holding up the jeans you were wearing last night.
"Thanks," you blushed again. "Is that for me too?" you asked pointing at the plate of food in his hand.
"Uh no, this is for me. That's for you," he said pointing to a tray with a glass of water, two aspirin and some fresh fruit on it.
"Wow, you really are the perfect gentleman," you said, teasing the cute stranger.
He threw back a cheeky reply, "I try."
You took the aspirin and had a few drinks of water.
"Do you happen to know where my phone is?"
"Charging in the kitchen. Would you like me to grab it for ya?"
"If you don't mind."
"Not at all."
After Niall left the room you put on your pants hating yourself for not putting them on sooner and then you wondered to yourself what events led you to leaving Emma and going home with a strange man the same night you broke up with your long time boyfriend.
Soon Niall walked back into the room with your phone and handed it to you across the bed. You noticed that the one side of the bed wasn't messed up at all, it was perfectly made."Do you mind filling me in on what happened last night? I don't remember much after the band started playing Galway Girl," you asked feeling a bit better after drinking some water.
"Well uh we were dancin' together, then we talked for a bit and your friend asked if you were okay to get home by yourself because she was leaving with the singer of the band, you said 'of course you were fine', which you were clearly not," he joked and you put you forehead into your hand in embarrassment. "then we hung out for a bit after she left and shortly after, your phone died and I mentioned I had a charger for it at my place and you absolutely insisted that we come back here so you could charge it," joking again.
You laughed and said, "okay but be serious, how did we end up back here and uh did we..?"
"Have sex?" he said blatantly to embarrass you more, "no, you were very persistent though. You tried really hard to get me into my own bed."
He gave you a wink and you blew out a breath of relief.
"Geez, am I really that bad?" he asked, faking the hurt in his tone.
"Oh no I was...you seem really nice, I just..." you mumbled struggling to find the words.
"Relax," he reassured you, "I'm only coddin' ya. Are you always this serious?" He smiled at you and it made your stomach flutter.
"No, just when I wake up in a stranger's house," you joked back.
He laughed at that one and it made you laugh too. He had the cutest laugh, very contagious.
"You look really familiar for being a stranger though."
"Oh yeah? Well, we did dance together a lot last night."
"Yeah that's true, maybe that's all it is."Your conversation seemed so easy and natural. You'd never had a conversation like this with a guy before, usually you run out of things to talk about after you ask them their name.
"So um I think I've definitely overstayed my welcome, I should get going," you said as you stood up.
"Might be a good idea, I have some work to get done anyway," he replied back making your heart sink just a bit knowing that he actually wanted you to leave.
"Are you good to get back on your own?" he asked.
"Yeah I'm good. I'll just catch a bus back to my place. Thank you for everything, it was really nice to meet you Niall."
"Nice ta me ya as well Paige."
He waved as you walked down his driveway and when he shut the door the thought that you might never see him again entered your mind and it made your heart sink just a little.
After a short walk you came to the end of his driveway and realized you had no idea where you were or how to get back to your flat. Then you felt a buzz in your pocket...Text message
Unknown:
I'd suggest a left to get back to Old Town and then you can catch that bus you were talking about from there back to your place.Niall?
The one and only darlin'.
Thank you
...againNo problem.
Paige, do you think I could see you again? Take you out for dinner and get to know ya properly? I mean I already saw ya mostly naked so things can't get more awkward than that eh?I'll think about it
Your heart fluttered at the thought of this cute Irish man wanting to see you again. The thought made you float as you made your way back to town and the bus ride from there was all but a blur.
