Why didn't they notice?
They would regret not noticing sooner, but by then it would be too late.

Patton had decided that the sides should go on a picnic. Roman loved the idea. They had gone to the Imagination. Everything was going so well. Everyone was having fun.
They thought that things were okay. They were so wrong.
Logan looked up at the storm cloud when he heard violent coughing. Before he could say anything, the coughing stopped. Logan looked away, but from the corner of his eye he saw that something was coming out of Virgil's sleeve. Flower petals. Logan brushes it off as Virgil playing with flowers.
If only he noticed. He would regret that later. They all would.
A few days later and the incident was forgotten. Logan was too focused on figuring out how to confess his feelings to Virgil and he forgot.
He would regret forgetting
The light sides had all noticed that Virgil seemed to be coughing a lot lately. Logan and Patton started getting worried. Was the anxious bean okay? Was he getting sick? A few weeks after the picnic and Logan was ready. He was dressed in a black suit with a dark blue tie. His hair was combed back. He had gotten some black and purple flowers for Virgil. Today was the day he was finally going to tell Virgil he loved him. When he walked down to eat breakfast he noticed Virgil wasn't there already. Patton was going to wake him up but Logan volunteered. Patton understood why. Roman wished him luck. Roman has been helping him plan everything for the day he would confess. When he got to the familiar black and dark purple door he knocked but received no response. He knocked again. Still no response. Logan tried one more time before the worry got to much and he kicked the door open. Virgil was laying on the floor with his back to Logan. Logan rushes over and immediately started looking for a pulse. He screamed in horror when he felt none. He tired again but there was still nothing. No pulse. No heartbeat. It was then that he noticed it. The flower petals surrounding Virgil and coming from his mouth. He heard a scream and a gasp and he turned around to see Patron and Roman behind him. They were both crying. It was then that he released that he too was crying. "What happened?" Patton was the first to break the silence that had consumed the sides as they let the realization that Virgil was dead sink in.
His skin was cold. So cold. Yet Logan couldn't bring Jim's to let go. He just sat there hugging the dead body of the love of his life. Finally. After what seemed like an eternity he responded. "It was my fault. He died because of the Hanahaki Disease. It is when a flower starts to form in one's lungs. This only happens to people with one-sided love. This wouldn't have happened if I had told him how I felt sooner."
It took awhile to fully understand the extent of the disease for the other two but when that did Patton threw his arms around Logan's shoulders. He was still hugging the cold body of the love of his life.
"It was as much of my fault as it was yours Logie! We're all to blame at least a bit. If we had noticed sooner or seen the signs this might have not happened". Patron had never sounded so serious. That day had been years ago. A new Anxiety has formed. Logan and the others tried to be nice to him but sometimes they just couldn't. Especially when he wanted to know what had happened to the last Anxiety. On the death day of Virgil Sanders a family was broken apart. But Logan still loves Virgil. Deep down Logan knows that he will never move on. He loves Virgil too much. And this is my first angst oneshot! Please tell me what you think. Was it good? Pleas tell me.
