Alternative King Boo (Luigi's Mansion AU)

Chapter 1: The Vision and The Truth

"Luigi, bro. Wake up. King Boo's here." Luigi slowly opened his eyes, waking up from a nap on the couch. He yawned. "Good morning," he let out.

"Good morning, Pal," King Boo greeted him. Luigi smiled to him. He love how everyday King Boo comes over, and spend time with him and his brother. "How was your nap?" King Boo asked him.

"It was okay," Luigi respond. He haven't been getting enough sleep throughout the night. His dreams wouldn't allow it. So he often take naps during the day whenever he could.

Luigi lifted himself up to a sitting position on the couch, wanting King Boo to sit beside him. King Boo got the message and sat down beside him, bringing him to his embrace. Luigi hugged his arms, letting himself to lay on top of him.

"Is it those nightmares again?" King Boo asked him softly. Luigi nodded sadly. "And I hate watching both of you dying in front of me over and over again."

Mario was getting some lunch for them when he heard Luigi. He sighed and placed their plate of sandwiches down on the coffee table. He kneeled down close to his brother and his best friend.

He started to pet his brother's hair a bit. "I know these nightmares have been giving you a bad time, bro." He sighed before finishing. "Have they been getting worse lately?" Luigi nodded. "Today's the worse so far..."

Before Luigi continued, he and King Boo helped Mario up to lay on top of Luigi, while King Boo kept both of his best friends in his embrace.

Luigi continued. "It was about the three of us again... But it was different. I know he wouldn't do it, but I saw King Boo trapping you into a painting, and then I-I had to fight him..." He started crying in his brother's embrace.

King Boo and Mario comforted Luigi. It took some time for him to fully calm down. "It's okay, bro. It's okay." "We won't fight each other, Pal." "We'll always be with you."

Their support helped Luigi to feel better. He smiled a bit. "Thanks, guys..." He quietly yawned. "I'm going back to sleep..." He fell asleep on both of them.

While they were letting Luigi to sleep, they started to eat lunch. "I wonder why Luigi's been getting these nightmares lately..." Mario thought out loud. King Boo swallowed a bite of his sandwich before answering. "I'm not sure, either. I've noticed that he's been getting really worried about us more frequently than usual. Maybe he's scared of loosing us?"

Mario nodded. "It's a possibility. We're basically his only family members he have left." King Boo nodded a bit. "I do have a question, though. What did happened to your parents back in Brooklyn? You mentioned it few days ago about it."

"Oh... That... Well, it still hurts both me and Luigi... But I'll tell you. Back in high school, our parents started to fight each other every night. It scared Luigi, so I protected him, kept him away from their fights."

Mario took a sip of water before continuing. "One day, though. Our so called father came home drunk, same as for our so called mother. They were drunk so bad that they... They killed each other right in front of us.

"Luigi was extremely terrified. I was, too. One other worse part about all of that was that police back then won't do anything about it.

"I was 18 back then, had a small job, so I was able to get a small apartment for me and him. Ever since then, he was extremely worried about me. And my guess is that he's extremely worried about you as well."

King Boo took some moments to progress on what he was told. He then looked down at Luigi, watching how he was breathing so calmly on him. He petted his hair a bit gently.

"I'm sorry that you two had to go through all of that," King Boo said. Mario placed his empty plate down on the coffee table and curled up to King Boo. "It's ok, King Boo. Thank you..."

King Boo wrapped his arm around Mario, bringing him closer to him. He kept both of his best friends within his embrace. "You're welcome, pal."

Unfortunately, the peace didn't last much longer. Luigi was getting nightmares, crying in his sleep. Both King Boo and Mario tried their best to comfort him.

But the nightmare seemed to have taken over Luigi's mind. He wasn't gonna wake up anytime soon.....
