Lights. Camera.....
This, this was the moment she was waiting for. All those months of constant practice and each one making her feel more and more excited until she felt like exploding in happiness. Everyone ran around, doing last minute things to prepare but she just stood in the middle of the stage, hiding behind the curtain, arms open wide and imagining the cheers and applause of the crowd. Her eyes were closed and she had a beautiful smile on her face.
"What are you smilin about, doll?" Her partner asked.
Of course he would put himself into his character's shoes right before a performance. He always did that, she tried too but the excitement made it almost impossible to focus. Only when she was on the stage out in front of everyone could she be her character.
"Oh, just imagining the cheers for when we finish our performance." She replied casually.
"You always do that." He said, breaking his character state and laughing a bit.
"Why not? It's fun, and it makes me even more excited for our performance." She turned to him, placing a hand on her hip.
He smiled gently, gosh how she loved those smiles, it seemed like they were just for her.
"That's good," he said, stepping closer to her, "but I just think it's because you can't wait to dance with me again."
She giggled, it was true, her character was supposed to be in love with him and it made it feel even more real when he flirted like this. She loved dancing with him, it made her feel safe and happy.
"That could be it, Sugar." She said, putting on her character, and stepping closer to him so their bodies were mere inches from each other.
He smiled again and leaned close to whisper, "Well, doll, that's why I'm so excited to perform with you. I just assumed that it would be your reason too."
Her face leaned towards him, closer, and closer, until...
"ALRIGHT! LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD! PLACES EVERYONE."
They jumped apart and both blushed as people rushed around even faster to get to their places.
He winked at her and as he walked away he called, "Another time, doll, Alright?"
She smiled at him and walked to the front of the stage, inches from the curtain, watching as it slowly opened to the darkened crowd.
