"I'm scared, Vio," Taliyah said, cowering more under the table.

Something was in the school, but it wasn't a person. The 'thing' as they called it broke into the school and now it was on lockdown. So far, all they could hear was silence. No one dared to talk in fear of the Thing hearing them. By the request of the principal, the teacher in this certain classroom was trying to send emails to parents as they waited for the police to arrive.

"Me too," Vio whispered, moving his hand to grab hers.

Just then, a bloodcurdling scream echoed through the halls, kids in the classroom gasped and whimpered. Taliyah shut her eyes, squeezing Vio's hand. His hand gently squeezed back, trying to comfort her in some sort of way. Another scream followed the first and then they heard it. The Thing was growling/roaring. The screams were silenced and something was being dragged down a hall. It seemed to be getting closer to the classroom they were in. It's ragged breathing got louder as it stopped right next to the door. Fear shot through Vio and Taliyah like lightning as the Thing sniffed the air and the door. Everyone held their breath, hoping it would go away. Then, it scratched at the door, the teacher stood quietly, ready to protect the students if needed. The Thing seemed to have lost interest and moved on, dragging whatever it was behind it. Everyone sighed with relief, but luck didn't seem to be in their corner.
Someone sneezed and the Thing growled, heading back to the door. It scratched and hit the door, trying to break it down. Kids were shaking with fear as the thing continued to attack the door. The teacher was pointing to a corner of the room and quietly instructed them to run once it was in the room. Vio and Taliyah press themselves against the wall, waiting in fear.
Finally, it broke through, it roared and growled, trying to grab whatever was around it. The teacher was right in front of the Thing and she had turned her back to it, looking at the kids. Before it grabbed her, she looked stern as she said one thing.

"RUN."
