I originally planned for Tom to be experimented on, a piece of Billy's dark matter possessing him and forcing transformation. But, as I kept writing and working on the comic, this wasn't necessary, and didn't fit into the current story. I also planned for Tom's first victim to be Edd, but his death was also unnecessary.
