Mystic Falls High School

'Dear Elena, Sorry it's been a while. Three weeks, to be exact. By now, Bonnie's probably filled pages and pages about how amazing Paris is. And Ric promised he'd write to you from his self-imposed witness protection with his kids, or Minerva will write for him since she's been a lot of help for him lately. I'd say those two are getting closer and closer every day, especially since she's been granted the week off for being one of the diligent traders in the company...just like her cousin Isaac working in the law firm.'

'That leaves me, and I'm trying not to think about the past by enrolling as the local investigative journalist, mainly for Caroline, who's catching up on work projects and I'm going to at least try to help her in any way I can. You know, it's ironic that when I said the past is supposed to be dead and buried, her boss sent me today at one of the historical places in town yet. By the way, Mystic Falls High School looks exactly the same as when you last saw it. I'm sure you've noticed there's someone missing from this entry...'

'Stefan is with Damon now. I don't know where he is, or what he's doing, but I know it isn't good. So I'm doing everything I can to think about other things instead. Like I said, there's always work'. Rosie is actually sitting on the outside bench of her doppelgänger's old local high school, waiting for the right time to come in while she takes in the view of the young students, mostly pretty cheerleaders, arriving with their friends cheerfully.

Not long after, Rosie is slowly walking down the busy main hallway on her own as she is on the phone with Matt, who's driving his cruiser, smiling, "Yeah. I'm, like, an embedded journalist, only in History class."

"Slow news day?"

"Yeah. The school's doing a big ramp-up for Founder's Day. They specifically requested me, for the alumni angle. But I was just calling to see what you were doing for lunch. You know? I could save you a seat in the cafeteria."

"Raincheck. I'm on my way out to the Armory to deliver the St. John box that Tyler left behind. Just doing Ric a favor. Are you okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine. You know, this is only temporary. All of this is...temporary." The vampire replied with a fake smile, "It'll pass, and I'm going to be just fine."

"I'll tell you what. If you sneak into Coach Lyman's office and write something really rude in his playbook, drinks are on me tonight at the Grill."

Rosie rolls her big doe hazel eyes playfully and smiles at this idea, "Cute."

Matt scoffs in ridicule, determined to tease her, "Come on. Just do it."

"I'm not a kid, Matt. I don't do those things. I mean, I-- I never did."

"Oh, come on. Didn't Stefan taught you anything?" The young man immediately stops, as if suddenly tongue-tied, when he realizes the name which he insensitively, by accident, just mentioned to the poor woman.

She immediately ignores the mention of her fiancé, "Okay, fine. How 'rude' would you want me to be? Something impolite, or something disgusting?"

He shrugs, guilty over who he just mentioned, "Dealer's choice."

Her fake smile remains on her sad but lovely, familiar face, "You're on."

The main school bell rings loudly, which he mentioned humorously with sarcasm in order to lighten up the mood, "Ugh! I do not miss that sound."

Rosie forces a laugh to lighten up the mood as well, "Yeah."

"Unless you're Minerva. So, uh...happy embedding." Matt told her, smiling.
