Author's Note:
This book is probably going to end up being pretty cliche and predictable, but I'm a sucker for all the cliche romance stuff so I hope you guys don't mind too much. I hope you guys enjoy!
Meryl's POV:
"...and the winners are...Meryl and Maks!" Once again I was awoken from a much needed sleep by this heartshattering nightmare. It has been a whole year since Maks and I won the Mirrorball Trophy and my feelings for him have made a complete 180 since the night we won. I went from loving him more than I have ever loved anyone to feeling complete hatred towards him. He broke my heart and has made me feel like a fool. I am so glad that I will never have to face him again.
Maks' POV:
"No. I refuse to do unless it is with her." I said into my phone. "I'm sorry Mr. Chmerkovskiy, but I just don't think that will be possible." The producer replied. "I understand, however, I am adament if I do not dance with Ms. Davis I do not dance at all." There was a sigh on the other end of the phone. "Yes Sir. We will see what we can do. Have a nice evening."
Meryl's POV:
I woke up to a knock at my door so I got up, put a robe on, and walked over to the door. It was my manager, Grace. I immediately let her in and greeted her with a hug. We had grown extremely close after my time on the show because after everything with Maks I was too humiliated to talk to anyone about it, but for some reason she was always there for me and allowed me to use her shoulder to cry on. Grace walked in and sat on the couch with a serious look on her face. "Grace, is everything okay?" I asked. She took a deep breath. "Okay so I know this will be hard for you, but I really want you to think about it and consider it. Promise?" She replied. "Umm..okay. What is it?" Grace's response was not at all what I was expecting to hear, "I got a call this morning from the Producers of Dancing with the Stars and this season marks their tenth anniversary of the show and they would like to invite you back for an All Star season. I know what you're thinking, but I thought about it and Maks quit the show after yall's season so he probably won't even be on it and even if he is I can almost guaruntee you he won't be your partner." I sat there dumbfounded not really sure of what to say. While searching for the right words I couldn't help but to think about the night I realized I loved him.
Meryl's Flashback:
"That was a great practice MerBear." Maks exclaimed as the camera men were packing up. We had just finished our rehearsal for our Foxtrot. As the camera men left Maks walked over to me and gave me a hug. I hugged him back, but he seemed to hold on just a little longer than neccessary. "So.." he began to say,"I was wondering if you wanted to come over for dinner tonight. I'm making spaghetti." I thought for a moment before I finally answered, "Sure! Is Val going to be there?" "Doubtful. He is probably going to be practicing late with Danica tonight because she had some work obligations this morning so they got a late start." "Oh okay well I'd love to come over. I can just meet you there." He looked slightly embarrassed as he said, "Or you could just ride with me. I mean you don't know how to get there and.." before he could finish I said, "Sounds perfect." and gave him a big smile. We walked out of the studio and headed to his car. At this point in the season the relationship rumors hadn't started yet so we didn't have to worry about the paparazzi. We drove off and sat in comfortable silence. My hand was resting on the arm rest in between our seats and tentatively laced his hand in mine and began rubbing it with his thumb. "I'm really happy you agreed to come." He said almost sheepishly. "Me too. I'm actually a little surprised you asked." He looked shocked. "You are?!" "Well yeah I mean you are...well you and I'm just me." We sat in silence the rest of the way to his house. When we got inside he started cooking dinner and we made small talk. Once dinner was ready we sat at the table to eat. While we were eating he spoke to me in a tender voice and said, "By the way, please don't ever say you are just you. You are incredible and beautiful and incredibly sexy." That made me blush big time. Maks was the first man to ever call me sexy. After dinner we went over to the couch and started playing Truth or Dare. I know that's juvenille, but it was actually quite fun. At first they were just harmless, silly questions like what's your favorite color, but then he asked, "How many boyfriends have you had?" "Honestly? One. That's really embarrassing, but it's true." "You've only had one boyfriend?" He asked surprised by my answer. "Well yeah guys don't normally gravitate towards girls like me. They tend to choose girls like Karina and Peta." I said hinting towards Maks' ex lovers. He snickered. "I see you've did your research on me." "Haha well that information wasn't too hard to find. If you google your name they are mostly what all the articles are about." I pursed his lip as if in deep thought. "I really wish you would stop putting yourself down like that." "Like what?" "Like saying your just you or that guys don't gravitate towards you. I would choose you over those girls any day." I thought my next words through very carefully. "But you didn't." I said shyly. "Why do you think I invited you here tonight?" he asked as he pressed his lips against mine. I immediately felt sparks flying through my body and after that kiss there was no going back.
Meryl's POV:
I shook myself out of my little daydream and considered the words I had just heard. "You're sure he won't be there?" I asked Grace. "99.9% positive." She replied. "Okay then I'll do it." I reluctantly answered.
Maks' POV:
"...and you're positive she is going to do it?" I asked. Once again on the phone with the producers. "Yes Sir we got her confirmation this morning." "Well then as long as I am partnered with her I am in." I said as I hung up my phone.
