Chapter 2

What do you mean my whole life is a lie?” I yelled. My dad looked down, ashamed.

“You remember those stories about the two alien races? The six children? Well, you’re one of them.” He said. At first I thought he was crazy. But then it all made sense. All that protection, he was protecting me from the Kaonians, and the fire, why I wasn’t burning, it was because I am a Novanian.

“I’m a Novanian? And there are people hunting me? No wonder you didn't want me to go out anywhere.” I said. “But why didnt you tell me! I had the right to know.”

“It was for your own protection.” he said. Like I haven’t heard that one before.

“Your story never said that our parents came with us, so that means you're human, right?” I asked.

“Yes I’m human.” He replied. “Your Novanian leader disappeared long before you were born. You were brought to earth with the six. I adopted you as my son in the process.”

“So I guess I’ll call you David from now on.” I said. There was a moment of silence between us. I was the first to break the silence “And there are others.”

“Yes, your leader explained that sometime in the future all six of you will unite and defeat the Kaonian’s and resurrect your home planet Nova.” He said. “He also explained that your powers would be based on the elements.”

“And I’m guessing my element is Fire.” I said. My so called father nodded. “Well where’s the leader now and what’s his name?”

“His name is Carter Warlock and there is a prophecy that he would be found with some kind of spark.” He said

“A spark?” I asked

“Yeah I wasn’t sure on what he meant by that.” He replied.

“Great. Well at least I can manipulate fire, but then again, there is a whole army of Kaonians trying to kill me.” I thought to myself. “We have to unite with the others” I said finally.

“No, it’s too dangerous. You’re going to have to train before we unite with the others.” He said.

“So when do we start?” I asked. I was eager to explore my new found abilities

“Get some rest, we start in the morning.” He said. I would have done what I was told but I still had one question I had in my head that really bothered me. When I was halfway up the stairs I said,

“David?”

“Yes?”

“Do you know who my real parents where?” I asked.

“Peter. I’m sorry, but no one knows who you were except you.” He replied. “You have to find your way back to your old life.” I looked away, there were tears in my eyes. "What happened to Carter?" I asked.

"All I know is that he and his brother, Magnus started the separation of your races and started the war. One good and one evil." he replied. I had so many questions to ask but they would have to wait for later. I saw that David was rubbing his eyes and knew that he was tired from that rough conversation. I continued up the stairs and went to bed.

That night, I couldn’t sleep because I was thinking about my past trying to remember any detail of my old life back on Nova, but I couldn’t remember any. Probably because I was to young. I was also nervous. What if we don't succeed and lose against the army of evil? And worst of all, what if I died? I pushed those dark thoughts away and thought about the positive side. I wondered what the others would be like, what element will their powers be based? Obviously, there would be Fire, Water, Earth and Air, but there are six of us so what would the remaining two be? I thought about these things until I finally dozed off into the land of dreams, there I found something unusual.
