Chapter One- Roses Are Red

Flowers! I needed flowers! My heels clicked and clacked as I fast-walked down the aisles, looking for flowers. Finally I spotted them. A flash of red roses, right before a man walked in front of them and blocked my view. I sighed in relief. Thank goodness! I was rushing towards the flower bouquet, when the man blocking my view suddenly bent down. My eyes widened as I realized his intention. He was out to get my flowers.

I quickly stopped in front of a store clerk, tugging on his t-shirt. “Hey do you have more flowers?”

He shook his head. “Sorry ma’am, but the only flowers we have left are the roses in the front of the store.”

I quickly thanked him and turned my gaze back to man’s back. I needed those flowers, really, really badly. There was now only one option available.

“Screw this.” I muttered to myself and quickly took my heels off, placing them on the ground, my gaze never leaving the man’s back.

            Then, I ran.

I ran towards the man, as fast as I possibly could. My bare feet slapping the cold tiles, with each stride I took. My curled-to-perfection, auburn hair was whipping behind me as people moved to make way for me, their expressions purely of shock. The cashiers were telling me to stop, and the kids were laughing while their parents held them back, by now most of people in the store had stopped to see all the commotion.

Although, I think it took the man a while to figure out what was happening behind his back. Now before I continue, let me assure you that what happened next was a total and complete accident, something I didn’t intend to happen.

As I reached the man, my plan was to maybe just tap him on the shoulder, and politely ask for the flowers, or just to take the flowers and run, at the most, but I think the adrenaline finally got to me and I did something a little more, drastic, you could say.

You know that feeling you used to get when you were five and you were on a swing in the park, going really high? Do you remember that feeling, or that thought, that suddenly you could fly as high as you want? Well, I was feeling exactly that right now. Somewhere between running and seeing the man, I had somehow jumped and felt that feeling that I could fly during that short second of being airborne.

Everyone knows that what goes up must come down. So there I was, up in the air and now the reality of what was going to happen next, hit me. I was going to land, right on the mysterious man’s back!

Or so I thought. Just as that thought had crossed my mind, the man turned around. His honey coloured eyes widening, and his mouth opening to say some stuff my mind couldn’t register. The bouquet of red roses was still in his hands, I realized that, just I fell on top of him.

Now I take myself to being a moderately light person, but as soon as I fell on the man, he toppled over and groaned, making me question my weight. As soon as I, or well the man, hit the ground, I felt cold water splash all over my body, ruining my hair and my new dress.

“What the hell?” A deep and loud voice, caused me to open my eyes, which I didn’t realize were closed.

His honey coloured eyes, which I noticed had dark brown flecks in them, stared deep into my grey ones. His dirty blond hair was matted with water, which had affected him more than me. I looked over his face, and he seemed to be just a little bit older than me. He was remarkably good looking, and as his breath blew over my face, my heart beat quickened. I know, I know, not the best place to go all my-life-as-a-romantic-novel, but could you blame me? I mean, here I was lying on top of an attractive man, and I’d say I was pretty comfortable too.
