Author's note: Julie Plec might've destroyed dalaric in all ways possible but I promise I'll try not to :P
Ps: This is still a delena ff, I just feel like Damon needs a friend.

Raindrops plummeting seem to be the most relaxing sound, falling fastly, heavily even, making Damon and Alaric all wet, dripping with rain.

And the smell, the odoriferous scent of rain, who doesn't like rain? Damon wonders, trying to think of anything but his dear Elena.

It pained him to see Alaric, it reminded him of her and Damon felt angry at himself for not being able to see other people's issues, no, his friend's issues and what they all were going through because he was too busy sulking around.

So they both stared at the horizon. Two broken men experiencing the worst day of their lives.

They didn't talk, but they hugged, both needing comfort not that they would admit it. They were lost, heartbroken.

The sound of rain was better than silence, the teardrops of it falling on Damon's face making it impossible to distinguish if he was crying or not, he felt glad for that.

But Damon needed to ask, he just did, the urgent feeling of knowing just got the best of him, "Is Jo dead?"

He might as well have asked something about Elena but at this very moment he chose not to know more, It would just hurt and nothing else.

Alaric looked at him for the first time in the 1 hour they've been sitting at the fallen branch.

And then he nodded slowly. A little while later he murmured so quietly that if Damon was human he wouldn't have heard. "Yeah,"

Damon glances at him and nodded too, he could've said he was sorry for his friend or  comforting things but Damon didn't really know how to, and he hated when someone pitted him, he wouldn't do that to his friend.

So he kept the silence going once more.

"Everyone's worried about you, you just stormed out."

And then Damon was irritated again, what was he supposed to do? Wait there so then he could get more pitiful looks?

Damon scowled, "Stefan? Why didn't he come here then?"

"He's with Caroline at the hospital, they're trying to figure out what happened to El—"

"Elena. They're doing what I should be doing." And Damon looks down at the wet grass, although he knew he could just look at Alaric and he wouldn't see it all written over his face. There would be no pity, and deep down he was glad his friend was here but he couldn't shake the feeling of Ric being here with him, worrying about him when his own life was just falling apart.

"It's not. You know it isn't. But I think you should go there, you need to know some things, Damon." And Alaric meant it and Damon knew what he was talking about but he was still in denial.

"I know and I can't Ric, it's too damn painful." And he starts sobbing quietly and he feels numb.

And Ric stayed quiet, until Damon finally let out truly, "I appreciate you being here, thank you, brother."

And Alaric shook his head slowly, "I got your back the same way you've always had mine."

And Damon wonders how Alaric looks so cold-blooded about everything, he didn't cry once, he was the opposite of Damon right now and the vampire wondered if it was because Ric had already lost lots of people really close to him and felt numb to death, but again that made no sense since so did Damon and he was the dead creature.

"Damon, go back there or you will regret."

And Damon did nothing but nod.
