Uriah doesn't think often about what happened that night fourteen years ago. The relief, fear, joy, and above all the happiness he felt. Any emotion that he could come up with were all buried with one deep look into his Sara's eyes.Seeing her joy fade from her eyes as her skin grew pale. Uriah knew then what it took for Sara to give life to her last child. Tears swam his eyes and he held her hand. Begging the strength in his body to go into her just for a few moments.
"Sara my love please stay," Uriah pleaded. Not caring if the other women heard his pleas and thought them too be cowardly.
Placing a soft hand on his cheek Sara gently spoke, "I can feel my life ebb from me dear one." Uriah let out a choked cry but quickly grew quiet as Sara continued on.
"I will always love you and our children. No matter what happens I am so proud of you and them. You gave me so much happiness...."
Sara eyes started to grow blank as she spoke her final words, "Kiss me Uriah I want your touch to be my last."
Without hesitation Uriah lunged forward and kissed Sara with all of his love. Letting his tears flow freely he kissed and kissed until she stopped kissing back. Her body grew relaxed and she sighed one last time while putting her hand on his head.
Leaning up Uriah looked into her eyes and saw her love for him plain in her sight. As her sigh faded into oblivion she locked eyes with him smiled weakly as she died.
Snapping back into the present Uriah around him for a second. He was back in his shack with Slava hammering horseshoes for a local farmer. Looking down at the metal he just didn't feel the urge to move metal anymore.
"Father let me do it."
Turning around see saw Taylin, now a grown man, standing at the entrance. With muscles honed from hammering metal with Uriah and a calm demeanor Taylin grew into a fine man.
His hair had grown long that he kept back in a pony tail. His body grew into a large shape that Uriah knew would help further down the line when Taylin would get his own family.
"Ok son I need six more for tomorrow," Uriah said gratefully. Taylin stepped over and immediately went to work shaping the horseshoe. Uriah watched his work for a second but knew his son would do just fine.
Stepping outside he saw a bowl of water that Taylin must have brought with him. Picking it up Uriah saw his faces reflection and stared for a second. Deep circles gave his eyes a hollowed look. His hair had gray and white spreading throughout his beard.
Taking a deep breath he drank the water and felt some strength return to his limbs. Age appeared to be wearing on him more and more these days. Thinking of his youth and all the time he spent honing his skills....
"I guess it's time," Uriah growled to himself. "Time for young Tyr to decide what he wants to be."
