It was the end of sophomore year and for the first time in my life, I, Kiki Eleonora Partizan, was bored. All my friends were helping teachers pack up their classrooms and I didn’t really feel like doing that. I wanted to be outside in the bright sunshine. My eyes scanned across the field, looking for anyone to talk to and I see my friend Ally talking to the Popular girls. One of them was my ex best friend Dani, though our break up was unspoken, I guess that's what you call it now.
Even though the popular girls have always been a bit rude to me, they are still people that I could have a happy conversation with and since everyone deserves a second chance, I cheerily walk over to their little circle of 7 girls with a bright smile on my face.
“Hi guys.”
Nobody answers, but some of them roll their eyes at me and continue on with their conversation.
“So guys, my sister works at Starbucks and she gets stuff for free. So how bout we all go and get Starbucks after school, just tell me what you want to get now.” Trixy, the girl with dirty blonde hair said in her bratty voice, like it was nothing.
“Yasss I’ll get a venti peach ice tea.” Katy yelled while managing to pick a few strands of grass.
They went around the circle, each one telling Trixy what they wanted, while the others talked about other things.
“Guys I’m gonna get a vanilla latte and then I have to go home cause I gotta pack more of my room in boxes.” Dani said.
I knew very well that she was lying to them about going cause she wants to look cool. Her only game plan was for them to wait around for her with her drink in hand until they realize she ain’t gonna show up.
I remembered the good old days when we were so close. We were always two peas in a pod, but then everything changed like a light switch. She once said “eww you’re a girly girl”, but who knew a few years later she would stab me in the back and become one just because she wanted to be popular. That was the only painful thing that actually hurt.
“Oh guys, the reason why Dani is packing is because she is moving houses.” I intervened, wanting them to not be confused.
“Get away, you freak. The only place you belong is in freak town where freaks belong. Oh wait, did I forget? You are the only freak, so go be alone in your little doll house.” Mary Kate laughed at me with an evil smile on her face.
That bitch.“Ok, I’ll leave. And by the way, I’ll get a Vanilla Frappuccino,” I looked back at her, “Without you.” Smirking, I waved goodbye.
