The sound of rain seemed to drown out the noise inside the train as I turned to see who had tugged at my sleeve. As she began to speak in between wheezes, even the sound of rain tapping on the train windows became drowned out as I was left in silent disgust. I recognized that voice...rather, I'd recognize it anywhere I went after that day...
As the person caught her breath, I had mixed emotion on how to handle the situation.
'Should I lash out? Should I play silent and ignorant?'
Eventually I settled on one emotion.
"Fay..."
I hadn't even noticed how cold I sounded because everyone suddenly stopped talking and watched us two. For an instance even, the rain seemed to stop as I glared down at Fay catching her breath.
"Just...give me a minute..."
She said as she took the seat aside where I stood. All along, she still hasn't noticed the glare I gave off. After a long three minutes, she finally looked up and the instant she did, I looked away.
"You sure run fast. You didn't even hear me call out... Hmm, what's wrong? You were never the shy type..."
"It's not that, idiot ..."
She then looked around and instantly caught up with the situation.
"Ah...I see."
The people travelling with us were clearly uncomfortable, especially after the death stare I gave off.
'And after all my effort to not attract attention...Why did you have to be here, of all people...'
Fay then stood up and even before I reacted, she just kissed me...
'Wha...Wha...What the hell is she doing!!!... '
"Wow!"
Basically, everyone watching said it in unison. Even I would because I knew Fay... I know how she works, which is why she wouldn't just kiss anyone without some objective in mind.
Just as I was about to pull her away, she broke off the kiss, hugged me and said out loud,
"I didn't think I'd be on the same train as you, babe. It's a lucky day."
She said with a very...very convincing face and tone. If I didn't know her, I'd have thought she was into me.
"Yeah. You surprised me. I thought you were a stranger trying to pickpocket me."
Reciprocating the hug, I said out loud with the best happy chuckling face I could make, praying that the effort would work...and it did. Or at least for the majority in the train.
"Damn couples. Get a room."
"It's too early for this, bro."
"Youth...Yuck, am I really that old."
Those, among many other unnecessary comments, were what we heard as people slowly began to ignore us.
"Hmm. You catch up fast..."
Fay whispered in a low voice while in my embrace.
"Tch...You're the cause of this, you know."
"You even hugged back... Good job, babe."
She chuckled lightly at my struggle to maintain a happy face. The little skit worked and diverted attention away from us as everyone began listening to music, chatting or watching the rain tap on the train window.
"You can let go now, babe."
I said with an irritated grinning voice but clearly, she enjoyed torturing me so she, with a gleeful voice, went...
"I don't want to...It feels warmer like this."
Somewhere in the train, someone seemed to kick something and almost as soon as they did, the person turned away from us, apologizing as they crouched to pick something up. I didn't get to see the person's face as he/she rushed away from us.
'What was that about...Forget that, how do I get rid of this one.'
I thought as Fay continued to take advantage of the situation. Just as I thought up a way of getting rid of her, the train's intercom announced that we had arrived at our destination, Acadia High.
As soon as the train stopped, I made my way to the sliding door, Fay closely following up. Opening up the disposable umbrella, I walked out onto the train station with Fay and made my way to the elevator since we were on the first floor of the station.
Fay, on the other hand, seemed unhappy that the little skit came to an end as she requested for the lower floor elevator. I still didn't get to ask why since I never really understood how Fay works until I got too deep in her schemes. Coincidentally, we entered the elevator alone and as soon as the door closed, I folded up the umbrella and began,
"So...why are you here?"
Fay went silent, still looking bummed out.
"I saw you. We were going to the same school. Why wouldn't I take the opportunity?"
"Why are you here, with me, Fay?"
She sighed and just murmured something I didn't hear.
"Huh."
"I said relax. I'm not going to do anything to you...probably."
The elevator intercom then announced we had arrived at the ground floor. Opening the umbrella, I stepped out, holding the umbrella on one side so that Fay could be sheltered from the rain.
"Good. Whatever you do, don't drag someone innocent into it...like you did with me"
"I won't..."
And with that, I handed over the umbrella to her and walked off towards the school, straight through the rainy pathway.
"You'll get rained on..."
Stopping, I looked up into the sky, letting the rain drench me as I thought about back in the past, and then back at her and said...
"I enjoy the rain. You already know that. Come to think of it, that day also rained like this..."
And with that, I left Fay and headed for the school entrance. I didn't want to see her face. I just couldn't forgive her for what she did to me...no matter what the reasons were.
***** FAY'S PERSPECTIVE *****
'Getting rained on doesn't make people look cool, idiot.'
I chuckled as I watched Max go off to the school in rain. Looking up, it didn't seem that it would stop raining any soon.
'But I'll admit it looks pretty good on you...'
As soon as I thought that, I felt a presence watching me, almost as if I was followed...Though I already had an idea who it was.
"Zeke...I know you're following me."
Zeke, after a bit of hesitation, then came out of hiding and stood next to me, watching as Max left.
"You know, he would have been much happier seeing you than he was with me..."
Zeke just sighed and grabbing the umbrella, he said,
"I know...I'm surprised he even talked to you at all. You are the biggest cause of his situation right now..."
"I didn't want that to happen."
As much as I knew at the time, I really did want it to, I did regret it afterwards. As a result, he won't even trust me enough to just joke around...
"Oh well, you can have the umbrella. I'm going alone..."
"Says the person who was against being rained on a few seconds ago."
I ignored him and just left into the rain. There was only one response I had to Zeke's comment.
"He's mine, Zeke...That's more than enough informtion for you."
"Tch...Suit yourself."
