*** Max's perspective ***
'Acadia High...My new school, where I had hoped to start a new life, free of my past...yet it's already clear that its following me ...'
"Excuse me..."
Someone called out from behind me and, assuming they were speaking to someone else, I continued walking on unbothered.
'Why are you here Fay...You can be evil but there's no way it's to a point of following my life around. She has to be up to something...'
Suddenly an umbrella unfolded in front of me and I walked into it, literally, smacking my nose against its edges.
"Ow...What now, Fay? Can't you just ..." I began as I turned around.
It was a lady... a really beautiful one even. She was kind of a few feet shorter than me but she had a more matured aura for some reason. She had a hoodie on and some skin-tight dark jeans. Kind of a blend of cool and official... which adding to her looks, really made her look hot...but it didn't concern me I guess.
"Well, I'm not Fay first. Second, I don't even know you, but you should mind your health. Walking in the rain will make you get a cold. Also, mind your manners. It won't kill you to turn around and see if you're being called when someone says excuse me"
She said in some accent I hadn't heard before, though it did make me feel sad about how terrible my English sounded.
"Sorry about that... I'm okay. I just enjoy the rain. Didn't mean to offend you or anything. Can I help you with something?"
"No...I'm here to help you. I'd be gloomy for the rest of the day if I let you go like that. I'm not letting you walk in the rain so here, hold the umbrella. I'll walk you to the offices. "
"But..."
I didn't even get a chance as she simply grabbed my wrist and pulled me under the umbrella. That was a pretty bold move since normally I'd have walked away a long time ago but I was rooted to the spot. She felt...trustworthy at least. Handing me the umbrella, she began to walk on and I almost had to start jogging just to keep up with her.
'Who is this lady?'
For some reason though, this brought weird stares and gossiping from other students whenever we walked by them. I had been too busy minding my surroundings to even notice she was glancing back at me every now and then.
"Hmm...You must be new here. Normally other students would run away from me even before I call them."
"Umm...should I be running away from you then?"
"Well, that's your decision."
She then frowned after she said that but almost immediately wiped it off and kept walking. We walked on in silence afterwards but it bugged me that she had that frown...though I really didn't want to get involved, therefore as soon as we got to the offices and she had thanked me for walking her, I just said the only thing I thought I should say...
"I don't know why people want to avoid you...but I'll be the judge of whether I run away or not."
"..."
She just stared in silence then for like a split second, smiled and told me to go off to my orientation class as she disappeared into the office building.
'Why was she going to the office's section... Well, at least she smiled. She feels like someone I'd get along with '
I thought to myself as I walked off towards the classes and along the way, I met Fay again, who for some reason, seemed to be waiting for me with a grin on her face.
"Dzzaammn! You actually managed to get the Ice Queen smiling."
"She's nicknamed the Ice Queen! Why?"
"Well, you'll find out soon. Right now, we're late for orientation."
And so, me and Fay, who was drenched for some reason, ran off to the only class that was open just in time for the start of the orientation program.
There were about fifteen other new kids so I felt at ease that at least I wasn't the only stranger.
We then took the remaining available seats and waited as one by one, our teachers walked into the classroom. I didn't really pay attention as I was focused on the slowly ending rain pour until the last teacher came in and after introducing herself, came straight at me.
I, naturally, was too focused on the sound of the rain to even feel Fay kicking me or the weird silence that suddenly came up from the class. What I did feel was the direct karate chop to my head that got me reeling in pain.
"Pay attention. I'm 100% sure you heard nothing just now. Probably at all even."
At the time, everyone was laughing too hard to even pay attention so when I saw who it was and the smirk she had, I just let it slide to Fay's surprise who had moved already expecting a show.
"You don't know that."
"Oh really? What's my name then?"
"Umm..."
"See...I'm Hannah, your homeroom teacher. See me after the program. We have to discuss your conduct here before you get thrown out."
She said as she left. I, on the other hand, just sighed at how fast I get in trouble.
"Hmm..." Fay just stared at me and before I asked what, she responded, "You've changed Max."
After that, she went silent and focused on the program which went on to them marketing themselves, assigning us our classes and telling us about rules and stuff. As we finished, they handed out print outs of a kind of structure of the school grounds telling us to go explore because they believe the best way of learning about a place is to get lost in it...which worked for me anyway. The only downside to it though was that we had to do some tasks in groups of five and get an item back to our homeroom teacher.
"Haha ... I bet you wanted to run away from it as usual."
"Do you really have to do this every time Fay?"
"What...I enjoy it. Anyway, your PR skill is horrible. Improved a bit but still horrible... so I'm pairing with you. Let's go."
Fay began as she grabbed my arm and pulled me along.
'Argh, I hate this girl...But its true anyway'
Sighing, I just accepted and got pulled along and just as we opened the door, someone tapped my shoulder.
"Excuse me, do you mind if we three join you? All the others have already grouped up."
"Yeah sure. I don't mind."
"Great. I'm Mia, this is Karla and this is ..."
"Zeke!!"
"Hey, Max. Long time"
