Khadijah (May Allah be pleased with her) was born in Makkah, Arabia in the year  555 CE. She was born to a father, named Khuwaylid ibn Asad who was a successful merchant in their Quraysh tribe, Banu Asad of Makkah, and he died fighting in the final battle of Fujjar. Her mother's name was Fatimah bint Zai'dah

Upon her father's death, she took over the business and traded goods through the primary commerce centers at that time from Makkah to Syria and to Yemen. Her policy was to hire hardworking, honest, and discriminating managers to brave the dangerous trade routes on her behalf and the managers also brought goods from those markets to be sold at home. The managers would get the commission and this was enough incentive for them.

She was married twice before her wedlock to Prophet Muhammad. She was first married to Abu Galah Malak bin Nabash bin Zarrah bin At Tamimi. She bore him two children- Halah and Hind. She wanted to see her husband prosper & financed him in setting a big business. But unfortunately, he passed away. Sometime, later the young widow married Ateeq bin Aith bin Abdullah Al Makhzumi and she had a daughter by him as well named Hindah. Both of these marriages produced children and both left her widowed. She resigned herself to being a widowed woman, the upbringing of her children, and taking care of business, she inherited from her father.

Being the most successful woman around, rich in worldly attainment as well as character, Khadija(RA) faced a consistent campaign of Arab nobles seeking her hand in marriage but she refused all of them.

Because of her excellent character and noble qualities of Khadijah(RA), the Arabs ( who at that time used to look down upon woman and society was also mainly male-dominant ) called her    "Tahira  " _ the pure one.
She was also known as the
" Princess of  Quraysh "  for her wealth.  " Khadijah-al-Kubrah
_ Khadijah - the great   was also one of her titles. Later, she got the title of
" Umm-ul- Momineen "  _ the Mother of the believers.

Being the most successful woman around, rich in worldly attainment as well as character,  Arab nobles were eager to marry her, if possible but she refused all of them.
