Lyra Scarlet woke up that morning smiling, thinking today was one of her normal Summer Vacation days. But then she remembered. It was September 6th. The day that school started back up. Her smile faded, and she got out of bed. She tried to think positive. That this was a fresh start! And people said that the Junior High was WAY more fun than the Elementary school that she had gone to before the Summer. She got on the outfit that she had planned, which included a black tank top, a long, knit black sweater that didn't have buttons or a zipper, a dark green, blue and black kilt (that indicated her Scottish background), and a pair of black tights. She looked in the mirror in her bathroom. She looked amazing. But she didn't like it. Not the outfit, she thought she looked amazing in it. But the fact that she was about to be thrown headfirst into an entirely new life. Everything was about to change. She was so stressed, it was giving her a headache. So she ate some waffles, finished getting ready, got her mother to do her hair up in a way Lyra could never seem to get right, and turned on her 4th generation iPod, put on her headphones, and listened to her favorites playlist on shuffle. She could feel some of the stress flow out of her at the first song; You're Gonna go Far Kid by The Offspring. She listened to music until her mother tapped her on the shoulder and told her it was time to go. She felt the stress come back a little, but not as much as last time. Just before she went out the door, she heard her iPod go off. Someone was FaceTiming her, so she went to see who it was. It was her friend Makayla Gray, who lived nearby. Lyra answered the call, and Makayla's face appeared on the screen. Her normally straight medium-length dark blonde hair was curled beautifully. Her hazel eyes seemed to shine in the lighting from the room she was in.
"Hey Kay. What's up?" Lyra asked brightly. "Not much. You?" Her friend replied. "Same here. Except for the fact that we have to go to an entirely new hellhole today." She said, her smile fading and her voice becoming a little bit unamused. "Yeah, I know. So, I was wondering if you would want to walk to the bus stop with me?" Lyra's smile returned at the question. "Sure! Meet me at my place, and we'll go." "Ok! See ya!" "Bye Makayla!" They hung up the Facetime, and soon, Makayla was coming down the street, so Lyra got on the gray flats with a little glittery silver bow on them that her mom was making her wear, and went outside. The two walked to their old elementary school, where the bus was supposed to pick them up, and they ended up singing 'For the First Time in Forever' from Frozen. When they got to the part where Anna realizes that she could find the man of her dreams at the party, Lyra realized the same thing. This could be the best year of her life. So, when they got on the bus, they saw their old friends Kara and Halle sitting near the centre of the bus, so the two girls sat down in the seat in front of Kara. They talked about their Summers, and when the bus stopped the next time, another one of her old friends, Ally, walked up the steps, and sat down in the seat next to Lyra and Makayla. So they talked and talked until they got to school. When the bus doors opened, they all got up, and saw the crowd of people waiting to get inside. Lyra spotted the rest of her old crowd of friends and signaled to Makayla and the others to wait for her while she went to go get them. She ran over to her old friends, Meghan, Amber, Ann, Natalie, Flynn and Connor. The group went inside, then had to split off into three groups. Kara and Ann went to one class, with a sign outside the door with '7-2' written on it, Ally and Lyra went to another, that also had a sign outside the door, except this one had '7-3' on it. and everyone else went to the classroom with a sign outside the door with '7-1' on it. Lyra and Ally sat down in the desks next to the far wall, and watched as people came in. She could almost tell how she would feel about them. Some people she knew she hated because they went to her old school, some she knew she was going to hate for some odd reason. She saw 4 people she knew she would be friends with. And the rest, she thought, were not enemies, but not friends, either. But then, she saw him. He had somewhat curly dark brown hair and brown eyes. It took all her willpower to look normal and not stare at him. She knew he was perfect, and she didn't even know his name yet. 'Well, I think that this day is going to turn out much better than I expected.' She thought to herself, and smiled.A/N PLEASE READ!!!!
Hey! How do you like my second book? Good so far? Ok, I need to get a few things out of the way right off the bat.
-I will be using swear words.
-This book is 97% Non Fiction (I just changed the people's names), so if I take a long time to upload chapters, it means nothing that special has happened.
-I will probs be making both long and short chapters, but since it's hard to get writers block while doing this, I'll have a relatively consistant update cycle. So, with that all out of the way, shoutout to my friends, x_Gymnast_Bae_x, Smarty212002, Always_Writers_Block, Bessie14, Samwhite7 and Bracol152! You guys are the best!!!😄
