Baby Girl

Chapter 1

Skye's white sneakers screeched on the laminate floor as she pivoted and passed the ball to her team mate.
"And back, Amy to me!"
Her skirt flipped to the side as Skye fling herself towards the ball. She grabbed the ball and threw it into the hoop.
"Yes!"
The crowd went wild as the final bell went for the end of the game.
As captain of their netball team, Skye had to go to the visiting team and shake their hands.
"Good game, better luck next time,"
"Skye, Skye George, come here."
The coach called in her direction, as Skye exhaustedly walked over to coach Amara.
"Good game love, we have just expanded our lead to 25 points at the top of the championship, next stop finals. Come on Eagles!"
She chuckled as Steven Diggory - Skye's boyfriend - came over and swept her off of her feet.
"Steve, what the hell."
"Come on Skye, you scored the winning point, and that deserves a reward. Well let's just say that my dad has booked us a reservation for tonight at The Lobster downtown."
"Seriously, that's amazing, what time is it, because I have my training to do for an hour at 5."
" 7 till as late as we want. So be ready and I'll pick you up from your dorm at 6.30, ok?"
"Sure thing,"
Steven kissed Skye as he left for his football training, him and Skye were the it couple at Egerton Academy as they were the both the captains of highly skilled sports teams at their school the netball and football team.
The Egerton Academy was the most prestigious college for miles around, located in the state of Washington D.C they had frequent visits from the president and his party.
But this year was big for Skyes netball team as if they won the championships this year, which had only 5 games left, they went to internationals next season and would be given a 5 point head start in the league. This wasnt much pressure for Skye as she knew that her grades wouldn't be effected and that her team was amazing, which meant that they wouldn't have grade slips. At least that's what she thought.
"Skye, can we talk?"
"Amy, good game girl, what's up?"
Amy looked down at her sneakers as she started to cry.
"My grades have started to slip, my mom has threatened to pull me out of the team if it keeps up. What should I do."
"What how? Didn't you attend all of the boosters to catch up. I got you special access to the library whenever you wanted to, your mom can't pull out my centre before internationals."
She pulled Amy towards her as she broke down in tears. Stroking her hair, Skye gently pushed Amy in front of her.
" Hey come to my dorm instead of training, in sure coach wouldn't mind if I told her. "
" Ok, Skye, I hope it works. "
Be at my dorm at 3.30 sharp and we will od an hour of revision and homework and at the weekend we will go to the library and work, ok, ok?"
"Ok Skye."
"See you then sport."
Amy skipped off as the cheerleader team came onto the court. Within that team were two of Skye's best friends - Anna Diggory, the Cheer captain, and Sam Simpson, her assistant captain. They both waved at her as Skye took a swig of her protein shake.

The routine was amazing, they had won the cheerleading national competition, and all because they were all the best of friends, which was the key to success.
Mabel had come from the crowd to see her sister. Mabel was Skyes 15 year old sister who had graduated from highschool a year before she should have because of how smart she was, she had lived at her parents house instead of a dorm due to her age, so she was at the game with their parents.
Skye surged forward as Mabel squeezed her from behind.
"Pineapple, Pineapple. Hermana por favor déjeme tomar un poco de aire, lo necesito para respirar. "
( Sister please let me have some air, I need it to breathe)

"Lo siento, sorry don't know my own strength sometimes."

(Skyes parents speak Spanish so I will put bold italics as translations. For what they are saying.)
