Baby Girl

Chapter 2

"Miss George you are 12 weeks pregnant."
"What, no, that can't be true, I.. I am God"
She broke down in tears as Steven came over and hugged her tightly.
"Hey, Skye you are gonna be an amazing mother, I can't wait to have this baby with you. I love you no matter what."
"Mi amor, estás teniendo un bebé es un regalo, el regalo de la vida, esto no arruinará tu carrera de netball porque tienes tanta gente que te ayudará y cuidará de este hermoso regalo de nuestro Señor de arriba, tu padre es tan feliz, si sobrevive llega a ver a su nieto crecer te amo, dijo. Felicidades mi hija"
My love, you are having a baby it's a gift, the gift of life, this won't ruin your netball career because you have so many people that will help you and look after this beautiful gift from our Lord above, your father is so happy, if he survives he gets to see his grandchild grow up I love you he said. Congratulations my daughter.

"Gracias mama. I dont know if I am ready though, I wish I was but it all seems so new and I don't want to lose everything."
" Skye, I promise, after this baby is born everything will be fine, you have a game once a week and your training days are alternate to mine so she will be fine. We will be a family and when you go to internationals me and your family with this child will be there to cheer you on. "
" What am I gonna tell coach? "
" Dont worry I have taken care of that love. "
" ¿Será el bebé católico? "
"Yes mama the baby will be Catholic, as we are both Catholic."

Skye was discharged 30 minutes later and when she arrived back on campus she was greeted by the whole school with congratulations and a party was thrown for her. The netball team gave her a perminant captaincy but for now she was to help coach the team.
"If you feel like after the baby you can't play for the team, you can keep in your role as coach. We would love it if you would be our temporary coach instead of playing while you are pregnant."
"Coach, you didn't have to do this. I mean I would love to coach you all. But in tommorows training session I will be looking out for a new captain and vice captain so be ready for the hardest training of your life."
"See Skye I told you hun that your dream wouldn't be over. So if you don't play you are gonna be the best coach ever."
"Steven I can't wait for this all." she stood up on a chair and said.
"To everyone that is here, I thank you all so much for this, I can't wait to start coaching for the amazing netball team with all of my girls, this will be an amazing oppertunity, we have two games left and we are forever getting closer to the title and internationals, I can't wait for you all to see this baby, see you in 15 weeks for the gender reveal. "
A deafening round of applause echoed through the courtyard as Skye signalled for the music to continue.
At midnight, the party had ended, this meant that back in the dorms, Steven and Skye were curled up on the sofa watching Dr. Phil on catchup.
" I can't wait till me you and our new baby are in this exact place watching this."
"Me either, me either."
After 4 episodes of Dr. Phil, the couple were curled up on top of each other asleep.
As the sun rose in the early morning sky, the smell of bacon and bread wove its way into Skyes nostrils and she awoke with a start.
"Knew that would wake you up. How you feeling,"
" Like I have a living foetus inside me and its just swelling and swelling and swelling."
"So normal for a pregnant woman?"
"Yas."
The two sat down at the breakfast table as they wondered about what gender the baby would be and names.
"For a girl I'm thinking Rachel Maria  and for a boy Pedro after my father."
"Wow, I love those so let's go with those,"
"Do you not have a name?"
"No not really, I'm not the most creative person on campus."
They giggled as they marvelled on their futures.
"Well, I have training soon, its gonna be so weird me coaching, I have put my netball gear in the closet. But on the topic of the dorm, are you going back to your dorm with Dan?"
"No, I have been given permission to swap dorms with Anna as she is Dan's girlfriend."

After a while, Skye had started to get changed and ready for training, she looked in the mirror and saw a small bump where her baby was located. She was so excited, but she quickly put on her training gear that had been provided to her and set off to the netball court.

She was ready.

Skye arrived at the court and blew her whistle and the whole team was silent. Skye paced vertically as she addressed the team.
"So over the next few months, I will be replacing coach Amara, and I won't be nearly as gentle, we are so close to winning this league by a landslide and getting to internationals, and now I have to pick a temporary captain and replace two of our roles the goal attack and centre, the 4 people we have up for this role are Danni and Raquel for centre and Gemma and Fiona for goal attack. So we are going to play two quick games 7 a side and see how we all work with one another, at the next training session tommorow I will announce results, go eagles."
" GO EAGLES! " the team shouted as they clapped twice and ran to their positions.
The whistle blew and the screeching of trainers began.
" Hailee PIVOT, DANNI MIVE TO THE LEFT NO MY LEFT God we really need to practise. "

After practice ended, the team gathered around Skye and started to compliment about her training tactics, you know we have never sweated as much in training as right now and we love it, you were harsh but in a nice way, thank you coach."
Hearing the girls address her as coach reduced Skye to tears, Skye eventually brought herself together and said,
" Girls, I have never been as proud to call you all my friends. You have accepted me into this role and have been trying so hard, I believe that on Sunday we will absolutely smash the seagulls, then the pitbulls then win the league with flying colours, go on you all deserve a good night's sleep, just remember be here 5 sharp for a two hour training session tommorow. "
" Yes Coach. " the girls said in unison."
Skye arrived back in her dorm at 6.30 and was blurting out everything to Steve,
"The girls were amazing, I think we have the internationals in the bag."
Skye yawned and fell asleep on Steven's shoulder, he calmly carried her to bed and tucked her in, she was so peaceful, he wanted to give her the moon and more, but he knew that because of this baby, her life was going to be tough but she was gonna get through it. Like the Skye he knew.
