A loud beeping sound woke me up from my nap. I tried to find the source with my eyes closed but I couldn't move my arms around, something heavy was holding them down. I peeled one eye open and was greeted by darkness, where was I?. A soft snore woke me up completely and I turned my head to the side to see Mike with his mouth ajar holding my right arm tightly. I tried to wiggle my left arm and realized that I was actually laying on it. Where's Ally?
I looked around but she wasn't in her bedroom. Aha! It's her alarm clock that's making the noise. I tried to reach it with my left arm and was able to hit the snooze button with my fingers. Ugh I could feel Mike's drool sliding down my arm, gross. I slowly moved my arm away from his grasp and went to the bathroom to clean it.
I made my way down trying to find Ally but I heard some voices coming from her backyard. As I got close I was able to hear a conversation.
"Are you sure about it? There's no turning back once you Ascend, you'll be bound for the rest of your life" Ascend? What is Ally talking about?
"Yes I'm sure, if it's not me then it'll be Sam or Eze, and I don't want that for them. They should have the chance to make their own choice, I have to fill his place" I froze. That's Is, but what is she doing here and what the heck are they talking about.
"But you won't be able to have a normal life and you'll have to deal with the constant attacks, you'll have to leave because you'll be putting them in danger!" Ally said almost desperate, I walked closer to the door just so that I was able to see them and listen better. They were standing close to each other but a little close from where I was. Ally got closer to my sister and caressed her face. What is going on?
"If I don't do it now they'll all be in danger, you know that without an active blessing anyone can attack them, we've seen it happen before. I can't let them or you get hurt because I wasn't able to fulfill my duties" Is said with her eyes closed.
"Please don't...just wait a little, we'll figure something out in the meantime and we'll be able to Ascend together and-" Ally's voice cracked, then I heard a sob. Is pulled her closer and kissed her forehead. I saw the glimmer of a tear rolling down her face. "Please don't leave me, just wait a little" I could barely hear Ally's voice. Is stared at her face for a while and then kissed her. My sister was kissing Ally and somehow that wasn't the thing that actually surprised me. Why are they talking about leaving? What does Ascend means? What is...
"WHAT THE HECK!" I jumped when I heard Mike scream and tried to pull him behind the wall but it was too late. In an instant Is was in front of us with a frown on her face.
"It's bad to eavesdrop, how long have you been here?" She asked calmly staring at me while Ally wiped her tears behind her and started walking towards us.
"Long enough to see you guys kiss! Bitch how long have you been hiding this from us?" Mike asked Ally while placing his hand over his chest to show how offended he was. I already suspected my sister and Ally had something going on for months now. Ever since I accidentally walked inside the wrong room one night and saw a flash of Ally's face in my sister's bed. I thought I was probably half asleep but it happened again a few days later although I was never able to prove anything. Now that I've seen them kiss it all made sense.
"Is, what were you talking about? Why are you leaving?" I asked her what I really wanted to know. Her eyes widened and she opened her mouth but no words came out.
"You do know that she's leaving for college in a few months right?" Ally said while walking inside the house towards the kitchen in a matter of fact tone. I knew that. She had sent an early appliance to many Ivy League Schools and got accepted to most of them. She even applied to some abroad colleges.
"Is don't you dare lie to me" I said and stared straight to her eyes. She just stared back but didn't utter a single word. Well I guess that's my answer.
"Sorry but I have to leave" I said to Mike and kissed his cheek.
"Wait, why? It's supposed to be out night out, don't go" he said following me to the front door but I just couldn't.
Is couldn't even lie to me but was so willing to tell Ally all of her problems. What happened to being there for each other and what the fuck Ascend means. Why does she has to take someone else's place and where was she going! Ugh!
My head hurts so much and I'm so deep in thoughts that I didn't even realized that I've already reached the park that's near my house. I've been walking for twenty minutes, my legs hurt and it was getting really cold out but I needed to rest and didn't wanted to go home and face Is just yet.
I walked towards a bench and sat there for a few minutes. I don't understand any of this but it somehow felt like I should, like I've heard all of this before but can't actually remember it. I took out my phone and saw that's it's almost midnight. I should probably head home before it gets too late.
"Hey cutie" My blood ran cold and my breath got caught in my throat. I turned my head to the side and saw a man dressed in black jeans and shirt. He was barefoot and had his hands inside his pockets. He was probably around thirty years old and had long blonde hair. He was attractive but his mere presence made me want to run the other way in fear.
"Stay the fuck away from me" my voice trembled and I wasn't able to put any authority in the phrase. I sounded how I felt, scared. He smiled wickedly and took a knife out of his back, I was having a lot of trouble breathing.
"Oh don't be mean, it's not ladylike to curse" he said before licking the silver blade of his knife. My legs were trembling and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't move at all. I was terrified and frozen in place.
"Now, why don't we, play a little game" he said taking some steps closer to me. Move Sam, move!
"You stay there and play nice, while I, have some fun with your body" no...not again...move, please. He was so close that I could smell his sulfuric breath. His eyes glimmered before he stretched his arm to touch my face. His fingers traced my lips while he placed his knife in front of my throat. I could feel the cold steel against my skin, how could I be so weak to get myself in this situation again. He licked my cheekbone and I shut my eyes closed, I couldn't even scream.
"GET YOUR FILTHY TONGUE AWAY FROM HER!" Something tackled this guy to the ground and his knife felt to the floor.
"Sam run!" I turned to the guy but he was already limp with Is above him. Is he dead? Did she killed him? I didn't have any time to ask her anything because something pulled me up from my feet. Another guy came from behind me and held me close to him with a knife against my throat.
"Move and she's dead" He said to my sister. Is just sat there above the guy, he had a pool of blood coming from his neck. "This can either be simple, we take her and we leave, or can go horribly wrong for you and we'll be getting two set of wings instead of one" he said while dragging me towards the little forest behind the park. I saw two other guys walking behind Is with long swords on their hands.
"IS! Behind you!" I screamed and kicked the air to try and free myself. My body suddenly coming back to life. She turned to look behind and created a sword out of nowhere. She raised it to block the attack of one guy while kicking him to the floor. She took a knife out of her back pocket and stabbed his stomach twice. The other guy came rushing towards her and his sword made contact with her shoulder. Is turned and stabbed his chest with her sword.
Blood was dripping from her back. I kept kicking and screaming while the guy dragged me even further from her. He licked my neck and whispered to my ear "You'll be all mine once this is over". I bit his arm with all my strength until I tasted blood. He growled and I felt something hit my head. Then it all went black.
