Reader's POV

I can't quite get a grasp on reality after last night. I fell asleep around midnight as usual for the same reason as always, studying for another big test. I was told that your senior year of highschool was supposed to be the least stressful out of every year, but I guess whoever told me that lied.

In just a few months I'll be an adult and graduated from highschool, forced to grow up and take on so many responsibilities. At least I get to decide my schedule for the most part.

I finished studying around eleven and passed out just before or after twelve, but I vividly remember waking up at two in the morning because I couldn't move and I could only look around with my eyes, which is why I knew the time, my alarm clock was set right across the room from me reading 2:08.

I had a few experiences with sleep paralysis before, but nothing like what I experienced last night.

I was laying there in the dim but pale glow of my desk lamp which I either hadn't remembered to turn off, or didn't care to. I couldn't see much of my surroundings until my eyes adjusted to the dark of my room, but then I noticed something I wish I hadn't.

My closet door was opened just enough that I could see an eye staring back at me from the darkness, the slightest glow coming from it, like a dying ember that drifted far from its birthplace of the campfire.

I felt my heart beat all of the sudden and that's when I realized I was panicking. I wasn't used to feeling my heart beating. It just wasn't something I paid any attention to.

The door pushed open further and out stepped a tall figure in one of those theatre masks, the happy one. But it looked far more sinister when I noticed the row of sharp teeth hiding behind it.

I struggled to move, trying my hardest and only managing to get a few twitches from my fingers and my left foot, but nothing else.

As he stalked closer to my bedside, my lamp light turned slowly to red and my phone started to play mr sandman. I could feel his body heat as he leaned over me, staring down at me. But I didn't stare back. I kept my gaze on the wall to my right, only able to see him from the corner of my eye. But even then, my heart still raced in my chest, pounding against my ribcage like it wanted out of my body. And I didn't blame it, I'd rather not be in my body right now either.

I'd never had any kind of entity with distinguishing features about it in my sleep paralysis before. Only shadowy figures, and they never came closer than a foot from my bed. This was different, and terrifying.

He laughed a cackle that made me wanna scream, but I couldn't. The pressure I could feel in my chest was like an explosion waiting to happen. I couldn't breathe, it was too painful.

"Hey kid, what's wrong? You're looking a bit pale." He said, teasing me.
His voice was a low growl, rough like if someone rubbed it down with sandpaper.

I whimpered and took a small peak at him. He had removed his mask, and I started to cry as I stared at his face.

He looked like if a demon and a clown had a child, with a wide smile plastered on his face wearing a cluster of sharp dagger like points, his eyes surrounded by dark marks shaped similarly to diamonds that made his eyes pop that much more, the evil unnatural red color of them serving to boost my terror.

He laughed again and looked me over. I felt violated as his eyes scanned my form, though it wasn't like he was doing it sexually. It felt more like he was trying to get a read on me. Taking note of everything about me. I was so tense, I didn't know if this was real or not and I didn't know what he wanted with me.
