ZoeyI was shivering in fear as I wrapped my blanket tighter around me than it already was. I was curled up in a little ball in my pitch black room. I watched the pelting rain outside my bedroom window.
I hated thunder storms. It's not that I didn't like the rain, I hated the sound of thunder and the bright flash of lightning. Thunder had always reminded me of the sound of getting slapped really hard. Lightning looked like a metal prod, that I would always get shocked with.
I got out of my bed and tried not to wake the others, if I did they would hurt me. This was my chance to escape, to finally be free.
I waited until I saw my signal, the dim lamps slightly flickering.
Silently, I snuck out of the room and in to the hallway, watching for guards. I grinned to my self when I saw a guard laying against the wall, blood dropping down from his skull. He was definitely dead.
As I went further down the hall, I saw another guard pinned to the wall by his own sword. Still grinning, I twisted the sword a bit, hearing the guard groan in pain. Sam had definitely outdone himself this time.
When I got to the end of the hallway, I opened the door to my left, then walked in. My grin quickly turned into a smile as I saw my only family, Sam, stand in there with blood all over him.
"Have fun?" I asked him.
"Lots!" He replied cheerfully.
"You got a little messy in the hallway there brother." I told him while raising an eyebrow.
Glaring at me, he walked to the back of the room and opened the door. I saw it was leading outside as he walked out.
"C'mon! Its a full moon tonight!" He exclaimed, grinning.
I sprinted outside following, to see that he wasn't lying and the moon shone down on us brightly. I had noticed it had stopped raining and the clouds had drifted into the distance, the sky being clear.
"What time is it?" I asked Sam.
"Almost two in the morning." He told me matter of factly.
He had contacted me telepathically while I was asleep. It was a through a bond we have had ever since we were born, being twins and all.
"Wanna race?" He asked me.
"Where to?" I replied.
"All the way to our special place, of course." He said with a rude tone.
I had started shifting into my wolf form while he was still talking, and once he finished I had darted to the woods.
"Hey! No fair!" He shouted after me.
No rules! I told him through our bond.
He had already shifted and was only a tail length behind me, but I was still in the lead.
I avoided a tree at the last minute, but Sam wasn't as lucky. He let out a yelp when he came in contact, almost knocking the tree down with his weight. I snickered as he raced to catch up with me. I had known this forest by heart, having grown up here.
