{I've been really busy with school; sorry about slow updates, although I doubt anyone really cares...}
"Why'd you do it? Why did you save me?"
Jotaro pulled his hat low, shading his face. "Who knows?" I guess deep down, we're all just a bunch of softies, huh?
After an exhaustingly long discussion about Stands and DIO, Ms. Kujo appeared in the doorway, holding a first-aid kit. She patched up Kakyoin as he profusely apologised for attacking us, even if he was being controlled by DIO. He was so polite, I was shocked he didn't have more friends.
"Don't worry about it!" I hushed as Kakyoin apologised for the fifth time. "I should be saying sorry for putting that gash in your leg."
"Do you need anything, sweetheart?" That was Mrs. Kujo.
"Actually, do you have a phone I could use? I really need to call home and let them know I'll be home a little late," I hated to intrude, but Mira was bound to worry.
"Of course! Your parents must be getting worried! Jotaro, will you show her where the phone is? I don't want her to get lost," She looked up at her son.
"Whatever. Follow me," Jotaro began walking down the wooden paths surrounding his house. "Who do you even need to call?"
"Oh, my younger siblings. They'll get worried if I come home late."
"Why should they care?"
"I take care of them. Our parents aren't around, so I watch them instead."
"Hm."
We continued through the labyrinthine home, finally arriving at a small closet that contained a phone. "Thanks," I said. There was no response from Jotaro. I had a feeling he wasn't a talker. I dialed the home phone and waited.
"Hello? Who's this?"
"Mira! It's August. Just wanted to tell you I'll be home kind of late. Make sure Jacob and Harley get their homework done, don't let them eat junk, and feed the cat, okay?" My fingers curled anxiously around the spiralling telephone cord.
"Awwww, I hate the smell of cat food! But alright, I'll do it for you. Just so you know, the dog's been fed."
"Thanks, Mira. I'll let you watch a show before bed to help me out. Sounds good?"
"Yeah!"
"Okay, I promise I'll be home really soon; see you then!"
"'kay! Bye, Auggie!"
Click.
I put the phone back and turned out of the closet, almost running into Jotaro. I wondered if he would notice.
"Thanks for letting me use the phone," He looked down at me, emotionless.
"Hm." He didn't really like to talk...
"Well, I should probably get home. Thanks for everything," I turned and began walking back to the tea room.
Lynn and Kakyoin were having an in-depth discussion of video game tactics, while Mr. Joestar and Avdol drank tea.
"Hey Lynn, I'm going to head home," My hand brushed her shoulder.
"Oh, okay. I'll see you at school tomorrow,''she replied.
"Just don't staple your hand again, idiot."
