It has been weeks since England and France last talked. Since what happened that one day, they knew it was too risky to communicate in any kind of way. Before, they would call each other on their personal phones at least once every week, knowing the government doesn't listen to their conversations on that line. But now, it was different. They can't take the risk.
France couldn't bear not having any news from him, seeing only his fake evil side on tv, or in newspapers. Knowing England, France was convinced he wasn't feeling any better than him. He was the only one he could express his feelings and anger to. The only one he could talk to without having to pretend. It made France worried sick. To add up to that, he doesn't know what England's boss thinks of them after that day. Did he guess what was going on ? Did he force England to tell him ? Is he being even more strict with him ? He couldn't stop wondering about those questions. Sometimes, he would remember the lady's voice, telling him good luck. It was a mystery to him. Did she know about them ? Is she actually against the dictatorship too ? It was very unlikely, France thought. Unless she's a good actress, the leader would have had doubts about her. But then, why would she tell him such a thing ?
"Ugh !" he groans, resting his forehead against his cold desk. France has been trying to focus on the paperwork he needs to work on, to no avail. The cloudy, grey sky made his office look gloomy, even with the lights on. The last few days were the hardest so far. He wasn't going outside and stopped taking the time to groom himself, leaving him with tangled hair and a thicker than usual beard. Dark pockets appeared under his eyes, and his main drinks were either coffee he was asking his secretary to make a few times a day, and energy drinks, when coffee was just not enough. He was ready to cry, when his phone rang. "Who's that again ?" A familiar number appears on the screen. "...is he crazy ?" It was England's number.
"Hey, Franc-"
"Are you crazy !? Why are you calling me, do you want him to kill you ??"
"Chill out frog. I know what I'm doing."
Hearing the man's voice after so much time gave France's heart tingles.
"Listen, we'll fight tomorrow. My boss wanted it to be a surprise attack. Prepare."
"Wait, tomorrow !?"
The call ended.
