chapter 34 | Pampered boy

The doorbell ringing brings him out of this little daydream and he walks up to it to open the door to Namjoon. "Happy birthday!" he joyfully exclaims and opens his arms, grinning from ear to ear and going forth to hug Jungkook. "My boy is getting old," he chuckles but moves back to hand him a bag. "That's your gift."

"Thank you," he grins and takes it, to let him in and close the door. "My little Minjun," he covers his cheeks with his hands but comes closer to you. He missed your baby that he hasn't seen in weeks. As soon as he's at your level, he delicately caresses Minjun's back and gives him a kiss. "How are you doing?"

"He's doing very good," you smile at him but hear Jungkook reacting to his gift. "Holy- I wanted this so much!" he enthusiastically revels in this gaming headset that he complained to not have plenty of times. "Does it have the red lights?" he gapes while taking it out of the box impatiently but Namjoon nods with a beam on his face. You hope he'll have the same reaction when you'll give him his second gift into which you spent a lot of money.

"Baby, is it okay if I try it now?" he asks you before diving into his gaming as he always does but you agree with no hesitation, making him run to the sofa to start to play. He's as happy as a little boy and that makes you soft.

"You're always the one holding Minjun when I see you," Namjoon pays attention to you again as Jungkook is now playing with his new headset. "I know but each time I stay too much away from him he starts to complain even if he's in Jungkook's arms."

"I hope Jungkook doesn't feel like he doesn't love him, because I know how he is so..." he crosses his arms against his chest but leans back on the kitchen island. "He does sometimes feel a bit hurt and wonders if it's his fault but I reassure him and tell him this is only because of the mom and child connection at the beginning and that once he'll grow up he will only ask for his dad."

"Yeah because he's a boy so I'm pretty sure that he will want to play with Jungkook way more at a certain age," he smiles but takes a look at the man you're both talking about. "Anyway, am I the only here? No one else came for his birthday?"

"His mom and stepdad are going to come and my parents are going to be here too," you check what time it is, wondering when they're going to arrive. "Ah alright, that's going to be even more lively then," he smiles but stays with you as you just felt Minjun moving his head up to look at you.

You gaze at him but smile, pecking the tip of his nose. "Aw," your best friend doesn't hide his emotions at this heart-melting scene he always loves to see. "Let's get on the sofa to join my baby man," you giggle but take Namjoon with you to it, sitting down next to Jungkook who plunged in his game some minutes ago and who doesn't hear anything other than what his headset is emitting.

7 pm.

"Happy birthday!" everyone clasps as Jungkook blew on the candles like a baby. His mother leans over him and presses a kiss on his head, making him laugh shyly and slightly blush. You smile at him while holding your sleepy son on your lap with his head on your chest, sucking on his pacifier. "You're getting old..." his stepfather teases him but you check on Namjoon cutting the two cakes for the seven adults in here.

"Who wants chocolate cake?" your best friends licks his finger after touching the whipped cream but you quietly chuckle at the sight of it. To answer him, your mother, father, Jungkook and his mother grasp his attention. "Okay," he acquiesces and fills the dishes one by one.

For some odd reason, Jungkook has been very timid since your parents and his has arrived, he's barely touching you but only staying close to you. "My daughter baked those cakes, right?" your dad questions you, pointing his finger at the piece of cake he just got. You nod to him with a smile but don't fear to get his opinion about it, you know Jungkook and you found it delicious so you're confident. "Great then, I can criticize," he annoys you as always and smirks before grabbing a spoon to start without waiting.
