"October Walters?"
Toby was breathless. Her full name sounded so beautiful coming from his lips. But how could this be? The boy she's been writing notes to couldn't possibly be the Ashton Irwin.
He had so many friends. So many girls fawned over him everyday. Everyone loved him. Toby was just a quiet nobody that sat in the back of all her classes.
Ashton couldn't possibly be the boy who claimed he loved her.
Toby cleared her throat. "Um, yeah, hi."
"October Walters?" Ashton repeated.
"I actually prefer Toby." Toby half-smiled.
"Toby...Toby Walters. T.W. T Marie W?" Ashton questioned, still appearing to be in shock.
"Um, yeah."
Toby shifted her gaze to her lap, where she twiddled her thumbs. She mumbled something incoherent.
"What was that?" Ashton asked. Toby shook her head and waved him off.
"It was nothing. Nevermind." She continued to be intrigued by her moving fingers.
Ashton reached across the small table and grabbed her hand. He lifted her chin until their eyes met.
"Hey, " he whispered. "Tell me what you said. Please."
Toby sighed. "I said I told you in those letters that you wouldn't like who was behind that cute handwriting." She put the words 'cute handwriting' in air quotes.
Ashton looked slightly confused for a moment but his expression soon changed and he started to giggle happily. Toby looked at him confused.
Ashton let go of Toby's hand and threw his head back as he laughed even harder.
"I found you," he said more to himself than anyone else. "I found you." He giggled some more.
Ashton got up and walked around the small table. Toby was still very confused and hadn't spoken while Ashton was talking and laughing to himself. Ashton grabbed Toby's hands once more and brought her to her feet. Then, he embraced her in the most comforting hug.
When he finally let go Ashton took her shoulder's and looked into her eyes. Toby blinked twice.
Ashton smiled and whispered, "I found you."
He leaned in and gently pressed his lips to hers.
When they broke apart, Toby finally spoke. "About your last letter--"
Ashton cut her off. "Oh my God. I scared you off didn't I? I'm too clingy and weird. I knew it. I just thought you felt the same way and everything, y'know? But I guess I was wrong. Ugh. I'm so stupid. I knew it. I knew it. I'm so--"
Toby inturrupted Ashton's adorable rambling. She grabbed his hands that where tugging at his hair.
"No, Ashton Fletcher Irwin," Toby said, "I was going to say..." She paused and took a breath.
"I think I'm in love with you too."
