Royal Care hospital sit-in:
On January 18th the people of Burri, Imtidad Nasir, Riyadh and other neighboring places made a sit-in in front of the Royal Care hospital when the NISS shot and killed more than 5 protestors from Burri. The sit-in did not last long, it was dispersed by the NISS and Police forces using tear gas and live ammunition.
Kaforui sit-in:
A day after Royal Care hospital sit-in and on January 19th the people of Kafouri, Bahri decided to make a sit-in in front of Dr. Babiker Abdelazeem's (One of December's revolution martyrs) house in there. Many of the former government officials including Al-Bashir himself and his close family lived in Kafouri, and that's why the Police nor the NISS couldn't use their brutal ways of dispersing peaceful protests and sit-ins.6 April:
On this day the Sudanese people revolted against Jaffar Nimeri in 1985 in a mass demonstration to the headquarters of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in Khartoum. Thirty four years later they did the same but this time it wasn't against Omer Al-Bashir himself, it was against the whole Islamic Front rule along with the National Congress Party. There was no official or accurate estimation made on the total number of people, it is believed that not less than 100,000 protestors joined the mass demonstration across Sudan. It is recognized as the most successful anti- government protest since the Sudan uprising began in December 2018. Some have said this one is way much bigger than the 1985 million march.6 April lead to the downfall of Al-Bashir five days later on April 11 after he was ousted by the Military. The million march then turned into a sit-in overnight.
Alqiyada sit-in:-
The sit-in started on April 6 evening. It was called "Million of 6 April" but people estimate the number was way much bigger than a million. The Sudanese Professionals Association (SPA) called for the march to the headquarters of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which overnight turned into a sit-in in Al Qiyada St, sending their message loud and clear "Just Fall That Is All". Al Qiyada St is significant in that it's surrounded by many governmental buildings and military establishments including, Ground forces HQ, Naval forces HQ, Air forces HQ and the ministry of defense. The place was crowded with military officers and police, the NISS couldn't use their ways of repression there, because they were not allowed to in the presence of the military.
The successful mass sit-in led to the ousting of the 3 decades dictator, Omar Hassan Ahmed Al Bashir on April 11. But when Al Bashir stepped down, former Minister of defense and chairman of Transitional Military Council (TMC) Ahmed Awad Ibn Ouf, he came to power by yet another Cope de'tat and announced a Transitional Military Council that will rule for two years, both Ibn Ouf and his TMC were strongly rejected by protesters and the mass sit-in continued.
The people were refusing to accept another military rule. Since the protests began in December 2018, protesters demanded the fall of not only Al-Bashir but of the whole military regime, ruling National Congress Party (NCP) and the Islamic Front. A day later, Ibn Ouf stepped down bringing into power yet another military man, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Al-Burhan.
This was one of SPA's statements after Al Bashir downfall; "Ending war and building peace, to clarify the names of the arrested from the fallen regime and where are they being held, dissolution of the National Congress Party and the devolution of its property to the country, release all of the political figures, including all officers and soldiers who tried to defend the people"
However, the mass sit-in continued for two more months, until Alqiyada Massacre happened on the 3rd of June 2019.
