"we are opaline spirits coruscating in beautiful colors."  I wrote a line from a poem I entitled iridescent. "your spirit is composed of various stories. crafted with perfected hands." I wrote again. I was sitting at our table during lunchtime, passing time by eating, listening to Pandora by the Cocteau Twins and by writing a new poem. I really found strength in writing. It became a hobby to a turned passion. It carries me through alot of things, especially with emotions that come very abrupt and heavily. Mae waved out her hand and I took out my earphones in response. "What's up?" I asked. "Emma and Logan over here were just informing me that you were the one who happened to report the fistfight last Tuesday to Mrs. Addington." Mae said. "Yeah, so what?" I asked once more. "Uhm, I don't know. You didn't tell Ezra and I about this? Is it because we both like Jordan Brown?" Mae asked. Jordan Brown was the jock who beat up that poor kid he bullied last Tuesday. He's a big asshole to everyone and what's ironic is that Mae and Ezra keep on bitching 'bout how Emma's always ending up with wrong guys but they keep on falling for assholes too.

"I guess it's because of that. Why do you guys even like him anyway? Y'all falling for the wrong guy too you know." I scolded them. "But, we aren't in a relationship with him. Just an innocent crush." Ezra defended. "Yeah, something like that." Mae added. "Well, this innocent crush has to stop 'cause he's a toxic guy that you shouldn't be attached to." I told them off.

"Ugh, whatever. It's not like we've slept with him before or anything. It isn't that big of an attatchment" Mae said. "But what's the difference? Either way you're still gonna have him on your mind 24/7." I replied. Mae's "rationality" is starting to wear off again. "Well what about that guy you saved?" Ezra asked. "What guy?" I replied with confusion. "The guy you saved from being totally annihilated by Jordan." Ezra replied. "What about him?" I asked. "Ask yourself that. You're been staring at him alot for days on end Ansel. First, you save him from Jordan. Second, you're keeping an eye out on him. It's like you're acting like his personal bodyguard or something. He hasn't even talked to you or done anything that concerns you." Ezra answered. Now that he mentioned it, I have been doing that. In the classes we share together, I unconsciously stare at him every now and then. Curious as to what he was up to. Always looking down with his hood on. Hiding himself from the world. It made him mysterious. I remember his name was Oliver. Oliver Dyer.

"They were just unintentional looks, they weren't a big deal." I shrugged him off. I was truly curious about him. Who he was and what ever he was going through that made him so, distant. I never even used to notice him, maybe because he never talked to anyone. Never conversed, never laughed, never ate lunch with anyone or done anything with anyone else. I haven't even seen him with someone else except when he was on that fistfight. He made me want to know more about him. He made me so curious. His isolation attracts me and I don't know why.

"I don't think so. They happen so frequently, I wouldn't be surprised if it became a schedule of yours." Ezra replied as he stuffed his mouth with greasy pizza. "I just wanted to help others out. Teachers are fucking blind to school fights you know. It's like they're oblivious to them." I replied. "I understand your courage Ans but why are you staring at him all the time?" Ezra asked. "I told you, it's unintentional. I wasn't supposed to look at him or stare at him. Maybe it just looks like that when I didn't even stare at him at all." I defended "

"Heck, I don't even know who he is." I lied. I didn't want to sound like a creep to them. "Whatever, it looked alot like you were staring at him and keeping an eye on him always. Anyways, how's everyone's day?" He asked. After that was a whole conversation about other people and their sex scandals at Denny's. The teenagers in our school are fucking weirdos.

"you are iridescent

beautiful.

glistening.

wonderful."

I wrote in my notebook as I crossed the street. I was going to a rendezvous with a client of mine. He gave me a specific address to where I was gonna conduct business with him. I wanted to write a poem right before I went to the place, atleast to cool myself down. Meetings with clients have always made me quiver because for all I know, they might have guns and to add, most of the time they always do. The only weapon I have is a small knife. My father, when he was still in the business, was never succesful in dealing. He was always stolen from and he has already been in prison, that's why he isn't working anymore.

I arrived at the place. It obviously looked sketchy and really obscure. There was a backdoor in this dark alley and that apparently was the place. The door was red and there not much but it was a black brick wall. I knocked gently on the door and realized that there was a small peephole on the front. The door suddenly opened halfway and there was a loud creak. "Are you Beau?" A deep and tough voice asked. "Yeah." I replied, trying to sound tough as well. The door opened all the way and there revealed a really buff man with tattoos and all that. He had ear piercings and had a huge beard. "Follow me." He said. I followed him as he walked to this really foggy hallway and only lightbulbs lighting the corridor up.

We reached the end of the hallway and ended up on another door. It was black as well with no peephole this time. The buff guy infront of me hit the door loudly two times and so it opened. I was worried and afraid but I tried to cover it up with my black hoodie. As I stepped inside, I saw my client, Tony and all his other aggressive-looking friends. But as I continued looking around the place, on the corner I saw a man wearing a suit. He eas sitting down with his face was bloody and he was all beat up. I couldn't make up his face anymore because it was so bloody. He was being guarded by two aggressive-looking people. I've seen people like hom before so it didn't come to me as a surprise. The room was the same as the hallway, really foggy and had only lightbulbs to light it up but this time, there was only one.

There was a huge table in the middle and there sat before it was Tony. He was wearing black too and for some reason, not as robust as his other friends. He was slim but had tattoos. He had a really pathetic-looking mohawk but that didn't frighten me, it was the stack of guns on the left side of the table that sat so aggressively. I stared at it with wide eyes but still tried to remain my cool. I sat down on the chair infront of me.

"Do you have it?" Tony asked. I nodded in response. "Show me." He said. I took out from my bag, two packs of cocaine and put it on the table. Tony carefully examined it and complained "Hey! This is less.". "No, it's just like you said. I didn't screw you over, I swear!" I defended with my hands waving left and right. I was panicking slightly and my tough facade faded away. He took one pack up and looked at it, eyeing it thoroughly. He took out a weighing scale and weighed the two packs to make sure and it was the exact amount he asked of me. He looked at me and replied "Okay then." but as he did he bobbed his eyebrows and everyone pointed their guns at me. I wanted to faint right at that moment. Why are they pointing their guns at me? What did I do? My palms perspired and I was shaking slightly. I was fucking terrified. I be ame frantic and started hyperventilating slightly. "What? What's this?" I asked in the cowardest of tones. "We can't pay you any of the money. So, I guess the only way to pay you is some bullets to the head sonny. The only way for us to stop is for you to leave" Tony bobbed his eyebrows again but I interrupted him.

"Wait, Wait! Don't do that! Ok, ok. I'll leave." I told them. I stood up from my seat and slowly walked to the door. I didn't even care about the fucking money anymore, all I cared about was my life at that very moment. I'm literally gonna come home emptyhanded but I was able to get out thankfully and now I'm leaving. I was fucking scared, I thought I was about to fucking die.

SMACK! Someone punched me.
