The rest of the night was uneventful for the most part, a few weird dreams here and there, but overall the night went better than he expected. He thought that when his mother died he would be getting nightmares, but that didn’t happen. He woke up bright and early like he used to and decided to head on down to the kitchen to start making breakfast.
Yume followed up behind and plopped herself down at the table. “Still tired sis?” Akumu asked, tilting his head to look at his sister. She just groaned, head falling to the table with a loud thud. Akumu giggled -a thing he rarely did- and shook his head. Their breakfast consisted of the classic bacon and eggs, a fruit salad, and coffee. Yume drank her coffee black -much to Akumu’s utter disgust- and proceeded to eat her food. They had begun to place their plates in the sink to wash them when a knock came at the door.
“Who could that be?” Yume questioned under her breath. “I’ll go check it out,” Akumu answered patting his sister’s shoulder before heading for the front door. He opened it to reveal two teens -probably the same age as him- standing at the door. “What can I help you with?” He questioned already questioning whether or not to close the door on them. The water faucet turned off and Yume followed up behind him.
Both of them were still in their pajamas. Yume was sporting a baggy light blue t-shirt -which hung off her shoulder slightly-, white leggings, pink socks, and her hair was put in a messy top bun -with a few strands sticking out-. Akumu was wearing red baggy sweatpants with a solid black v-neck, and yellow socks. The other two look almost identical except, one was a boy the other a girl.
“HI! My name is Mable and this is my twin brother Dipper! What’s your name!?” The girl exclaimed getting into Akumu’s personal space. Yume stepped in knowing her brother didn’t like it when people did that. “I’m Yume and this is MY twin brother, Akumu,” Yume stated, gesturing to Akumu who awkwardly waved. The boy waved back with a small smile, Akumu smiling back softly, eyes closing.
It turned out that the two were visiting their “grunkles” as they call it for the summer as they’ve been doing since they were twelve. They were walking by and noticed someone had moved in and wanted to check it out, which leads us to now. “So that’s why you came knocking on our door, huh.” Akumu surmised. Both kids nodded, each holding a cup of tea Yume made.
“Yeah pretty much,” Dipper explained, taking a quick sip of tea. They got to know each other better, Yume and Mable gossiping about the latest boy bands. “Hey, here's a cool little fact about Akumu here, he’s a really good singer,” Yume said smirking as Akumu’s dark skin turned a light shade of red. “Ooooh, that does sound cool, Akumu, mind sing us something?” Mable asked with pleading eyes. Yume followed in suite, her pale blue eyes having a mischievous glint. “Alright, alright, I’ll do it just stop staring at me.” Akumu raised his hands in mock surrender and walked over to the piano by the window in the living room. Taking a deep breath he began to play.......
“I'm going under and this time I fear there's no one to save me.” Akumu started, finger dancing over the keys, voice deep and smooth. “This all or nothing really got a way of driving me crazy. I need somebody to heal, somebody to know, somebody, to have, somebody, to hold. It's easy to say. But it's never the same. I guess I kinda liked the way you numbed all the pain. Now the day bleeds, into nightfall, and you're not here to get me through it all. I let my guard down, and then you pulled the rug. I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.”
“I'm going under and this time I fear there's no one to turn to.” Akumu continued, tears slowly pricking his eyes. “This all or nothing way of lovin got me sleeping without you. Now, I need somebody to know, somebody to heal, somebody to have, just to know how it feels. It's easy to say but it's never the same, I guess I kinda liked the way you helped me escape. Now the day bleeds, into nightfall, and you're not here, to get me through it all. I let my guard down, and then you pulled the rug. I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved. And I tend to close my eyes when it hurts sometimes. I fall into your arms, I'll is safe in your sound 'till I come back around.”
“For now the day bleeds, into nightfall, and you're not here, to get me through it all. I let my guard down, and then you pulled the rug. I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved. But now the day bleeds, into nightfall, and you're not here, to get me through it all. I let my guard down, and then you pulled the rug. I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved. I let my guard down, and then you pulled the rug. I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.” Akumu wrapped up, tears gently rolling down his cheek.
“That was…..incredible,” Dipper whispered, almost breathless, as though the emotion portrayed in the song was like a marathon. Mable was speechless, a feeling she has never experienced. Yume walked over to her brother and hugged him, to which he happily returned. Akumu wiped the rest of his tears, getting up and sat on the couch. “Is there any other reason you guys decided to drop in on us?” Akumu questioned, head tilting to the side yellow and white hair covering his ruby eyes.
Dipper shook out of his daze and scratched the back of his neck. He turned his head toward the two, eyes holding pity. “There is actually, but it may sound a little crazy,” Dipper stated. Time wore on as Dipper explained. Apparently, a dream demon -Bill Cipher- had somehow managed to gain enough strength to come back after his defeat 7 years ago. The main reason they were worried was because of the fact that Yume and Akumu were new in town and thought they should warn them about Bill because he might target them.
While this whole conversation was taking place Akumu sat there stunned. Bill had already visited him the night before but didn’t pull any tricks on him. Bill just seemed to be casually flirting with him. What was so bad about Bill that he should stay away from him? He wasn’t in love with Bill, he just found him interesting. But how will all this end up for him and his sister?
“Hey, Akumu you good bro?” Yume asked, placing a hand on his shoulder. Akumu shook out of his thoughts and quickly assured her. “Yeah I’m fine, it’s just a lot to take in, you know?” Akumu lied, forcing a small smile to try to sell it better. Yume only nodded and turned to continue talking to Dipper and Mable.
The day dragged onto the night before the other twins finally decided to leave. The other two decided to cook a quick dinner before heading off to bed, saying their usual goodnight. As soon as Akumu hit the bed a rush of relief flooded through him. He stared up the ceiling once again, eyelids growing heavy with his ongoing exhaustion. Finally, sleep enveloped his mind, he silently hoped to see Bill again to talk with him.
Akumu opened his eyes again to see -not a blank void like last time- a beautiful forest. The trees were a deep red color, their leaves having a yellow glow. What he didn’t realize was that the yellow rings around his wrist started glowing. “Well, well, well, if it isn’t my little golden singer. I hope you like the little dreamscape I created for you.” BIll announced, gesturing to the wide forest. Akumu twirled around one last time before turning to face Bill. “Bill, this is beautiful, but you didn’t have to do this,” Akumu whispered breathlessly, a light blush dusting his black cheeks.
“Oh but wanted to Goldring. The reason being is that you didn’t immediately start putting your guard up when you heard about what I did in the past. I will forever cherish that.” Bill spoke, honesty lacing his echoing voice. Akumu walked over to where Bill was hovering and gently took his hand into his own. “What my mother taught me when I was little was that you shouldn’t judge someone for their mistakes, no matter how bad they are. I believe that even someone like you can make a change for the better if you really try.” Akumu whispered, gently kissing where Bill cheek would be.
Bill’s yellow form turns a soft shade of pink, his pupil turning into a heart. “W-well, thank you, Goldring. I’ll see you tomorrow night my dear.” Bill finally responded, placing a chase kiss on Akumu’s cheek. And with that Bill was gone. Akumu held his cheek. “I’ll be waiting for you, silly triangle.”
