Stay Quiet, and they won't notice me.
That was all Lizzy was thinking when she heard the bottles smashing on the pavement behind her. When she heard the footsteps she knew that they had seen her.
Elena was so gonna kick my ass for being out alone so late. She thought to herself.
Picking her feet up on the pavement, she turned her fast-paced walk into a slow jog. Keeping up a decent pace, subtly peaking over her shoulder to see if they were following her. Turning forward crap, she thought as she saw them gaining on her. Her slow jog turned into a full-blown sprint.
"Don't trip, don't trip, one foot in front of the other, don't fall" She quietly chanted to herself, knowing that if she fell they would definitely catch up to her and who knows what they wanted from her.
Turning down an alley to cut through, hopefully making it to her apartment faster, when she realized she took a wrong turn. Stupid, how could I be so stupid? She internally scolded herself as she approached the dead end, which was restricting her from safety. Turning around slowly as she heard the footsteps getting closer, she realized that she wouldn't be able to get out of the alley without running straight at them. Grabbing her phone from her back pocket she blindly sent a text to Elena. Typing four little letters that would then cause a world of hurt to the group of guys who had chased her into the alley.
Standing her ground trying to calm her breathing and make her face look as though she wasn't terrified of what will happen. Shoving her phone back into her pocket and she set down the bag that had a dozen eggs and the half-gallon of milk. That she snuck to the store to grab for their apartment while Elena was in the shower, so she could surprise Elena with breakfast tomorrow morning.
Hearing the footsteps coming closer taking one last deep breath before looking up to face the group of guys that chased her at least six blocks around the streets of Chicago. She let out a shaking breath as she saw the first of the five guys walk into the only street light that barely lit the alley. She could see his gruff face, but she wouldn't look into his eyes. Looking him down, eyes drifting to glare at the rest of him. She noticed the loose-fitting clothes along with a leather jacket, with a blue bandanna sticking out of the jacket pocket.
A stereotypical bad boy just like all the books I read. She thought to herself, giggling out loud.
He seemed to look even more terrifying after she giggled. She could see the fire in his eyes as he walked closer to her, causing her to back herself into the wall. Instant regret is what she felt. She regretted going out so late, she regretted turning down this alley, she regretted giggling to herself, but most of all she regretted not paying attention to Elena when she tried to teach her self-defense. She tried to at least remember what Elena said about punching someone, thumb tucked or untucked? She questioned herself.
Completed missing how close the scary guy had gotten until he was just an arm's length away. She looked up to him taking one final stride to stand close enough that she could feel and smell his breath. Ewww! she thought to herself. He smelled like a bar, alcohol, cigarettes and who knows what else.
From her spot on the wall, he towered over her making her seem even weaker and smaller than she truly is. Since she was 5'4" she was used to being looked down on as short, but this was different he looked down at her as if she was a meal he couldn't wait to eat. She shivered in disgust at the thought of it.
She was paralyzed in fear, hoping that it was all a misunderstanding she that they didn't just chase her for ten minutes down the street. She could feel the panic growing in her chest and his hand reached toward her face. He ran his hand slowly down her face, pushing the hair that fell loose from her ponytail behind her ear. She shivered in disgust.
"What is a little girl like you doing in a place like this," He whispered closer to her ear, while his eyes raked down her body, pausing as he looked at her chest, looking back at her face only to wink and smirk down at her.
"I was... running to the store..." She responded trying to move as far away from him as possible. But when he held her still against the wall, she raised her hand to slap him, but he caught her wrist.
"Uh oh," She said fear squeezing her chest. There goes another regret. Tonight seemed to be a night full of them for her.
His whole demeanor changed in an instant. From creepy and softly caressing her hair. To shoving her roughly against the wall, with one hand wrapped around her small neck. She struggled to breathe, arms flapping trying to hit anything, do something that would lessen the pressure on her neck. He used his other hand to grab her wrists and hold them tightly above her head. This is when she began to really panic. She couldn't get a proper breath when she realized that there was nothing she could do to stop him. Whatever he wanted to do to her he could, she was nothing but a puppet to him.
In a last attempt to free herself she screamed, so loudly it hurt her throat, she couldn't believe how loud she could make her voice. In awe of herself, she didn't realize how pissed off she had made her captor.
He whipped his hand across her face causing her body to fail and smack to the ground. Ouch! She thought in her head as she went to stand, he slammed his foot into her stomach.
Hot tears rushed down her face as pain radiated through her body. She could already feel that her face was swollen, her lip split and that her stomach would be bruised for a while. Her attacker leaned down and grabbed the collar of her sweatshirt. He raised her off the ground just enough so her back was lifted off the dirty street.
"Wanna try that again sweetheart?" He said with a disgusting smirk on his face.
"Please... don't hurt me" She muttered trying to protect her face, curling her body as much as she could while he held her collar. "Please, ju-just leave me alone"
She couldn't picture how she was gonna get out of this one. Elena must have still been in the shower, or maybe she never hit send. Either way, she was screwed Lizzy held her eyes shut fearing what her capture was gonna do to her next.
"Hey!" They both turned to look at the entrance of the alleyway and three new shadows appeared. "Leave her alone!" The voice of one of the figures boomed at her attackers.
"And why would I do that" The lead thug yelled back as he roughly dropped her, causing her to smack her head against the pavement.
She tried grabbing her phone from her pocket, yet she kept fading in and out she gave up dropping her phone and trying to focus on reducing the constant pounding head. Dammit, she thought thinking about how she definitely should have paid more attention when Elena taught her how to fight.
Gasping in pain and reaching her hands to cradle her now injured head, rolling onto her side and looking towards the entrance of the alley. Her vision was fuzzy and she hissed in pain when she looked at all the commotion. All she could make out was a series of blurs that happened to be people fighting. She couldn't tell who was winning and who was losing.
Fading in and out of consciousness, the next thing she saw was only three figures remaining walking towards her. The next thing she could see was one figure of a guy trying to speak to her, trying to get her attention, but she couldn't focus. Someone reached out an arm to her and she flinched back, not trusting anyone.
The next thing she knew she was in someone's arms, with no control of her body, She couldn't seem to gain control of her limbs, she was fading. Trying to hold on to reality, but to no avail, she fell into the darkness.
