Chapter 3: Unexpected

After the ultimate prank, me and Jack spend the rest of the day playing tag an 'hide n seek' with the Easter Kangaroo. It was so hilarious seeing Bunny trying to catch us. Did I mention that I was helping Jack escape? Well me and him used my shadow powers to escape the wrath of the Kangaroo, until I knocked Bunny with my sand.

"What?" I asked the astonished Jack. "You have shadow powers, sand powers, you can change your appearance, your ice is a lot advance, and I'm sure you still have something in your sleeves." He listed giving me an amazed look. I gave him a dazzling smile before winking at him making his cheeks turn pink. "You'll find out soon. I got to go, North wants to talk to me about something." I jumped out of our hiding place - which was a ledge above - before floating up to him. "In any case the kangaroo wakes up, float back there if you want. It's the most safest hiding place here in the workshop." I waved and floated all the way to North. But not before dumping snow on Jack. "Really Jen!" He shouted. I looked back and gave him a smirk before leaving his line of sight.

I reach North's office and knocked at his door. "Come in!" I opened the door and saw North sculpturing a piece of ice. "So North, what do you want to talk about?" North stopped what he was doing and told me to sit. I admired his office, on the outside my face is neutral, but in the inside I was smiling at how North's office didn't change.

"Well, I was wondering when will you tell Jack?" I was about to play dumb and ask what he is talking about, but his care for both me and Jack stopped me. I sighed, thinking for a while of the simplest answer, because - let's face it - North sometimes don't understand sarcasm or figures of speech.

"I still don't know North. I'll know if the time is right, I've loose him before, I don't want to loose him again. Besides, he isn't ready yet to hear my explanation. I don't want to add his problems." I looked on my feet, which seems a lot interesting than North's questioning look. Seeing that I'm not looking, he sighed giving me a pat on the back. "As much as I dislike that answer, I still support you. And forgive me, and all of us, for ignoring and forgetting you Jen." He said giving you a knowing look. "Well, it's bedtime already. You'll actually be staying here for the whole week, then next week Jack will return with you in your home. Oh! I forgot to mention, you'll be staying in Jack's room" I look at North wide eye. "It's Manny's idea." He said raising his arms in surrender.

I groaned pulling my hair a few times. Here when I thought my life is happy, he changes it again. North called Jack and told him that I'll be staying in his room for tonight, and told him about the plans for tomorrow. He nodded, a little unsure about the idea. "Well, good night you two." North said before closing the door.

Well this is awkward, not only will Jen slip in my room with me the whole week but I'll also stay with her in her home starting next week. I look at Jen to see her face neutral and no emotion at all. I can't put a finger on it but it's like I've seen her before. I heard Tooth tell North about my strange memories not in the Memory Box but why wouldn't they tell me anything. Wait, let me think. North told Tooth not to tell me because SHE - don't know who they're talking about - will be crossed. Wait a minute, could that be Jen? I mean it seems like she know something but what? If only she would tell me.

I absentmindedly held her hand, intertwining them without noticing. I feel Jen jump in shock before tapping my shoulder. "Ah Jack, what are you doing?" I tilted my head a little and was shock when I saw our hands intertwined. I immediately let go, scratching the back of my neck. "So-sorry about that. I didn't notice." I feel myself blush as well as stutter. Jen was looking at the floor, but I swear I saw a hint of a blush on her cheeks. "Hey, it's okay." She said looking up, giving me a soft smile.

I guess luck was in my side today, for any awkwardness was spared by our arrival at my room. "Ladies first." I said opening the door. At first, I planned for her to have the bed and I'll sleep on the couch, but with a flick of her hand, a bed made of snow appeared. "I'll sleep here." She said before laying down on the bed she made. "Good night Jack."
