You froze, the sound of the scream still echoing in your mind. More than ever, you wished Jeff was beside you and prayed that he had not gone far. You sat in the same spot on the bed for a couple of minutes, the scream had come from inside the house and the sound of it made a chill run through you. After a slow couple of minutes of not hearing anything, you began to relax as reassuring thoughts began to flow through your mind.
It could have come from outside, people mess around all the time on Christmas
Maybe I just thought I heard something
Is the TV on downstairs?
Taking a couple of breaths, you got up off the bed to head to the bathroom. You had taken a few steps when suddenly another bang sounded but this time it was louder. You froze, shock and fear coursing through you instantly. That sound was definitely coming from inside the house and it almost sounded like...
Another bang, this time much louder. What or whoever it was, it was coming closer and closer towards you.
Your eyes widened, running towards the bedroom door as the bangs started to come more frequently, becoming louder each time. The bang sounded right outside your door and you saw it creak open before you pushed yourself against it, locking it instantly. Adrenaline pumped through your veins and your heart beat rapidly as you breathed a sigh of relief, leaning back against the door as you slid down to the floor.
"What the fuck?" You whispered, putting your head in your hands. There was clearly some sort of intruder in the house and you were at loss of what to do. Thinking that Jeff should be nearby, you shot up to try to locate your phone to call him. In your panicked state it seemed impossible to find the device as your ripped the sheets off the bed and threw clothes out of your bag. Suddenly, loud banging sounded against the bedroom door making you jump and let out a scream of fright. The banging was forceful and insistent, the pressure of it making the bedroom door shake. With numb hands you continued to search frantically for your phone. You gave a short yelp of relief when you finally located it in one of the compartments of your bag. The intruder, which sounded like a man, was now making a noise. It seemed as if he was trying to say words but all that came across was a deep groaning and slurred words, as if he were talking with food in his mouth.
Trying to calm your shaking hands you found Jeff's number, calling it straight away and sitting impatiently against the bed as it rung a couple of times. Finally he picked up, sounding as if he was on the street.
"Hey, (Y/N), I'm sorry for walking out I'll be back so-" he instantly started talking only to be cut off by your frantic voice
"Jeff! There's a- someone is-" You could hardly form sentences as panic had started to set in
"Woah, (Y/N), breathe. What's going on there?!" He asked you urgently, his voice instantly turning protective
After quickly taking a couple of breaths you started to speak again "There's someone here and I don't know who it is and they're trying to get into the bedroom and-" you rambled out to your boyfriend
Jeff cursed "(Y/N), don't panic. I'm coming right now and then I will take care of them. Remember I will never let anyone hurt you"
You sighed, his words making you feel assured "Okay"
"For now just-"
Your eyebrows knitted as his voice cut off. Taking your phone away from your ear, you glanced down at it before putting it back again "Jeff? Jeff!" you called.
The phone beeped twice before the call completely cut off. You cursed, trying to call him again but you saw that there was no service, all the while the banging still sounding in the background. Jeff was coming, you told yourself, he would there soon.
