"today i miss you
a little more than
yesterday..."
— gemma troy<trigger warning: death and suicide>
Roseheart tried to be a perfect daughter. She was kind, she was smart, and she cared deeply for her parents, especially since her brother, Sprucekit, died shortly after birth. Roseheart had a solution to a lot of things. She's helped out with the camp walls, making them secure, and figured out a more efficient method of patrols to keep SunClan's borders safe. But IvyClan kept pushing it. We knew they wanted our hunting grounds for leaf-bare, but they had plenty. We all knew they were going to attack at some point, but nobody wanted to admit it.
Until one, deathly cold, leaf-fall day.
Fernstar was giving a meeting to the clan about updates on the border issue. Everything was calm, except fir the wind, which howled the cats' ears, so loud Fernstar had to yowl to allow everyone to hear. Nobody heard the rustling of leaves caused by IvyClan sneaking up on the camp.
Then, all of a sudden cats came flooding into SunClan camp. They ran through the thick bushes and undergrowth and into the camp, jumping on and clawing at any cat they could get their paws on. Roseheart was overwhelmed. There was only screeching and yowls of pain, and grunts of effort as warriors and apprentices tried to fend off the Clan. It was a quick blur as a brown blob leaped for Roseheart. She hit the ground with a thud and was immediately over run with pain as the cat clawed at her belly and throat. things were getting blurry and dark as she tried to defend herself against the gruesome attack. With a final claw to the belly and bit to the neck, everything went black. Then, she found herself in a paradise.
No.... no!! I can't be dead! No!
Roseheart fell to the soft grass and let out a wail of pain and sorrow. Everything she had worked for... gone.
--
IvyClan won. They killed three apprentices and two warriors, along with taking one of Fernstar's lives. The Clan was devastated, and fear hung heavily in the air. It was esecially horrible for Leafpelt, Roseheart's mother. She had lost Sprucekit and now Roseheart too. She was everything to her. Leafpelt's mate and Roseheart's father, Lightclaw, turned his back on Leafpelt once Sprucekit died and gone off to live a life with some other she-cat. Leafpelt felt as if she was alone. There was nothing keeping her going. Every day was the same, boring routine. She was just a shell of her former self.
Leafpelt, who was unable to shake this extreme sadness, decided it's for the best to go. She could live with her beloved kits in a paradise world, not a care in the world. So, she planned it. There was a river not too far that she could...
It was nearly moon-high when Leafpelt set out. As a last meal, she picked out a plump mouse and devoured it in bites. There would be plenty of delicious prey in the stars with her family. There's no time to wait. Leafpelt quietly padded out of camp, and headed down a path to the river. It took a bit, but she finally made it there.
Her heart was racing, and she couldn't calm it. She was about to do it. Just jump in. Happiness is on the other side. She told herself.
With one final look up to the stars, she took a step back, and made a running jump into the cold water.
Splash!
It was against all of her instincts to stay in the water, but she fought it. Her limbs thrashed and her chest ached for air, but she stayed down. It hurt so bad. She couldn't breathe, and her chest hurt. Her heart raced and her mind panicked. Then, it was all over.
--
Everything was beautiful in StarClan. The skies were sunny, and the wind was soft and welcoming. She found Roseheart and Sprucekit. Roseheart was horrified of what Leafpelt had done to see her, but Leafpelt didn't care. She was with her family.
omg this is super sad and i'm sorry about the unhappy ending but not everyone gets one :(
what did you think? did you think Leafpelt made the right choice? i mean, she didn't have anything left to live for, in her eyes.
please leave a vote if you liked it (or not hehe) and comment your thoughts!
