Friday night. 10:30 pm. Post-football game. Eating.
I walk in and see a large table of guys among the rest of the customers at Taverns. Trey spots me and raises his arm to point at their table. I slightly grin and walk towards them.
"Hey baby." Trey says as he places his hand on the small of my back and sits me down next to him in a seat I guess he saved for me. Oh here we go. The fake love for me begins.
-- quick fact: Trey never calls me
baby --Sitting on the other side of me is Anthony and across from me is Wesley. Well he's cool maybe this dinner won't be awful after all.
"Hey guys." I decide to put on a good attitude for everyone.
"Bethany! I didn't know you were eating with us!" Wesley says.
"Well. Here I am! Haha." I joke. Or attempt to joke.
"Well nice to see ya." He smirked at me. Almost as if he wanted to wink at me but he refrained.
The guys began to talk about the game and their big win and how this dinner should be quite the celebration considering how big their win was. Blah. Blah. Blah. But the whole time they were talking and I was listening I kept trying to think of things to say to Wesley. I don't really know why, but I just wanted to spark a conversation with him. Nothing came to mind but for some reason I turned and faced him and said,
"You played good tonight!" Oh Bethany. You're stupid. Trey is right next to you and you haven't said anything to him and then you decide to tell Wesley he played good. Stupid.
"So you actually watched?" He replied.
"What are you trying to say?" I acted offended.
"Oh please. You're telling me you weren't with all of your little friends talking about god knows what and you were actually paying attention?" He has a point.
"Well I'll have you know that I ACTUALLY did watch this game."
"Ohhh this one whole game? I'm honored." He joked.
"You should be. You're lucky I even went to the game."
"Well thank you, Bethany for not only paying attention to the game but also watching my playing." This time he did wink. Not going to lie I kind of enjoyed our banter. Trey and I haven't had one of those since we first started dating.
"Ehem. Am I interrupting something?" Trey butted in and looked at me with disapproving face.
"Nope." I looked away from him and rolled my eyes. I looked back at Wesley who was a little caught off guard. He probably wasn't expecting Trey to be like that. Welcome to my life.
Trey put his arm around me and squeezed me close to him. The expression on my face didn't change. I just kept staring at Wesley who could tell how annoyed I was. He looked almost concerned for me. Like his eyes were saying "I'm sorry. I'd do something if I could."
"You know how much I love you right?" Trey kissed the top of my head.
"Yeah. I do." My response was sarcastic but I don't think he caught it.
"Good. You love me too right?" God I'm so sick of this act. He doesn't love me. He just knows that Wesley is watching him and he wants to put on a show for him. Oh lord I could just...
"Yep." I say. Like I could actually tell him any different. Trey released his grip on me and I sit back up and he turns back to talk with the rest of the guys.
"You okay?" Wesley mouthed to me so Trey wouldn't hear.
"I'm fine." I whispered and looked down. I create a fake smile to put on so he knows I'm okay. But it's obvious I'm not.
