𝐌𝐈𝐂𝐇𝐈 𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐃 𝐇𝐄𝐑 black hair up in a ponytail, blowing her long bangs out of her eyes. She stayed in the corner's confinement of the girl's volleyball club room. There wasn't a single word uttered among the other ladies of the team, each one staring their jersey down in a silent face-off.

Call it weird and unusual, but Aobajohsai's girls' volleyball team had this ritual for a very specific reason: it was their lucky charm. Rather than having a physical charm, the girls had their own unique way of getting focused on an upcoming match. And it's worked every time.

A few moments had passed before Michi clapped her hands together loudly, shouting: "All right, ladies! Let's win this two-to-zero!"

"Yeah!" They all yelled.

In unison, thirteen pairs of hands reached for their jerseys at the same time, tugging them off the hangers. It was then that chatter filled the room ― whether it was exciting or encouraging, Michi smiled just at the sound. If she could keep her team's spirit from falling on the ground, then she would do just about anything to keep them smiling.

She unbuttoned her lilac-colored shirt, removing it from her shoulders and folding it neatly before placing it on top of her skirt. However, before she could pull her jersey over her head, an arm was draped over her bare shoulders, pulling her in a different direction.

"You excited yet, Michi?"

Fujiyama grinned, wrapping her own arm around her friend's back. "Um, is that even a question, Rin? This may be a practice match, but we're gonna beat the hell out of 'em!"

Rin Tanji ― also known as Michi's one and only friend ― lightly punched her arm after retreating. With her bleach-blonde hair and piercing blue eyes, Rin was one of the easiest people anyone could approach. Yes, she could be intimidating, but once she let her guard down, she was a lot of fun to be around. And even though this scared most people away, Rin never seemed to care.

With that thought in mind, Michi finished putting her jersey on, looking down in admiration of the number three with a line underneath. The white and turquoise jersey had her feeling powerful and fearless; ready to lead an army into battle. Her shoes were already laced and on her feet as she bounced on the balls of her feet. Turning her back to her locker, she placed her closed fists on her hips and stood with her head high.

"Okay, ladies," she said, earning everyone's attention. "I don't care if this is a practice match or an official match, but I expect each and every one of you to give it your absolute all. The boys' volleyball club may be in the limelight now. And they'll always cast a shadow over us if we let them, so you know what I say to that? Screw the limelight!"
