A week later, things had settled quite nicely and quietly. There were no signs of murder in Norway's district. Therefore, Dr. Dag Yngve Nordvåg and Aslaug Hansen decided to go to a lunch date at the park and walk near the lake. Dr. Dag Yngve Nordvåg gracefully walked to Aslaug Hansen's given address to meet her. On his way to the front door, he caught a glimpse of his appearance in a sedan window. As soon as he knocked on the door, he felt oddly funny and nauseated. One minute he had seemingly unconsciously taken a weird object in his mouth without swallowing it, and the next, he had Aslaug Hansen's face in his hands and his tongue in her mouth. He had wondered if she had resisted the assault or if she was this pliant in his arms all along... He had noted the absence of the object and other liquids from his mouth, and was able to guess where they may have went. He had decided to push away his confusion momentarily and focus on the woman in his arms. He had slightly pulled away to share a heated gaze with her that was preceded by a look of surprise from Aslaug Hansen perhaps due to the change in attitude and mood. She had gripped his shoulders lightly as he bent down to press his chapped lips to her smooth and round ones. Dr. Nordvåg felt blissful as he absorbed the shivers his light touch would send through her by bringing her in closer. He deepened the gentle kiss, but it wasn't gentleness she wanted, not after all those bottled up feelings. She knotted her fists in his shirt, pulling him harder against her. After a long moment, Aslaug Hansen pulled away as she realised the time of day and Dr. Dag Yngve Nordvåg complied and led her to the door from where they apparently were in the living room to head to the park.
They started to head over to the park, hands clasped together tightly. Once they arrived at the park, Aslaug Hansen had to sprint to a nearby bush as she had not been feeling so well after the eventful beginning of their meeting. While she was gone, Dr. Dag Yngve Nordvåg remembered when he had passed down a pellet onto Aslaug Hansen, without knowing the substance himself. As he was contemplating, he froze as he realized something. His face became pale and his blood became cold. He, or rather the alter ego he slipped into on her front steps, had poisoned Aslaug Hansen by kissing her, having used it to drop a poisoned pellet into her mouth. He had filled a gelatine pellet with rat poison and hid it under his tongue, and nudged it into her mouth, while they were kissing. Dr. Dag Yngve Nordvåg knew that this was what had happened, since the gelatine pellet with rat poison that he had examined that morning and left in his left jacket pocket was... gone. It was by then that he had realized, he was the murderer all along...
Later on, he heard a woman scream from the women's washroom, where Aslaug Hansen had sprinted to. Slowly, he walked towards the washroom where many had ran away from the corpse of... Aslaug Hansen.
Dr. Dag Yngve Nordvåg could not believe what was laying in front of him, yet he knew the undeniable truth. He smiled coldly, leaving the crime scene without shedding a single tear. In fact, he did not feel any pain or guilt over the crime that he had undeliberately committed. As he walked towards a place where there were no sign of humans around him, he started to uncontrollably laugh like an untamable horse. He felt the best pleasure in his whole life, crying of relief and satisfaction. Before he left the park, he made sure that there were no traces of him being around the crime scene, or even playing with Aslaug Hansen.
The next day, the team of investigators were shocked by the new corpse that had been sent, as it was the dead body of their dear team member, Aslaug Hansen. Almost everyone burst into tears of sadness, with the exception of Dr. Dag Yngve Nordvåg. He hid his contentedness very professionally, and ordered to start the autopsy to find out the cause of death of the lifeless body of Aslaug Hansen...
The stranger was right. Dr. Dag Yngve Nordvåg had saved the criminal from the death penalty. Yet, he was a stranger since he did not know him very well. Therefore, his goal was not to put the victims out of their misery by killing them, but to purify society. Throughout the killing spree, he wanted to eliminate every trace of failed mutations in genes, which were considered as pathetic specimens that had the only purpose of being human test subjects. It was his inner desires that developed into an undeniable reality of Dr. Dag Yngve Nordvåg.
He did profoundly love Aslaug Hanse like any young lovers, but he had to wipe out all evidence that could have lead to his true identity. He knew that he was powerless against his desires, and he prayed that his broken heart would allow his alter ego to take over him completely.
